Should have mentioned thats what I have on hand for the project lol
More cores for the server. Fewer for the gaming machine is probably what I’d do.
And the “you’ll go blind” thing is a myth. Touch it all you want.
Uh, err, or so I’ve heard.
I do agree though… the ASRock boards are amazing for having production level features of a server using just AMD mainstream CPU’s instead of needing a Xeon platform. Just had to say.
Okay you guys have all seen the infrastructure series posts. You are well familiar with my streams of consciousnesses on them.
I open this poll to survey you all what you would like to see. What extensions? What additional explanations? What new topics (within reason I wont implement what I dont necessarily need but cool stuff im down to try).
Please choose your top 3. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

I will put some VoiP-server-thingy after it to hook up my phone on all options. I am just SO done with “whoops, network is gonesky”.
Is Custom OPNsense Box an option?
That is a bit more tinkering than I am willing to get into.
The rest of my network is a time sink as is, I would like to keep the uplink straight-forward-ish.
I would love to learn more about certificates, locally or via a service like cert bot… Just what I’d like to learn to implement https localy if possible. I’ve seen a few guides, but nothing that’s very verbose (@ThatGuyB ) or that might include using my OPNsense firewall as a local cert authority.
THIS ^^^^^
@MazeFrame This gives some great options and mine is rock solid. Love it. Got a box from these guys. Its amazeballs and cant talk it up enough. Company’s support is amazing too. @PhaseLockedLoop has one and loved it too.
I would need the 6 port model, and then I am spending 200€ more than the Cisco unit.
Roger, could you do a 4 port and vlans.
Si Se Puede
si. Its a great device. My needs seem to be outpacing it though
@HaaStyleCat Im going to keep this open for a week and see if I can get as many votes in. DM each other make sure you all know. Good metrics = good posts

We can only realistically do 6 plus DM max. Just FYI
Define
There’s limitations to DnD. I’d hope we host two different kinds of games. One where the people who couldn’t get into DND would also be able to have fun on the side with their folks and others on the forum
Like example you have 6-10 people playing DnD
You have another 6-10 or whatever playing RISK otherwise a lot of people are gonna feel a bit left out haha
I would commit for DnD if it happens and someone decides it would be worth it to organize.
In past groups we found that -
- or similar scheduling polls are just about the easiest way to decide when everyone can get together. Helps mitigate the clusterfuck at least a little. Xoyondo is just the one we happened to use as an example.
