Nothing but the Dawn of Ashes release for me, and I'm not 100% sold on them yet. The next album I buy will still be the new Fallujah on the 29th. This next month is a bit of a dud for me.

I agree. As a heavy Stoner/Doom fan, May is pretty terrible. All the doom releases are from more rock oriented bands. As a big thrash nerd, its nice to see some of the old guard still releasing albums, but most of the time, they just arent very good lol. Some bands just don't know when to hang up their hats and call it quits :D

I had some trouble putting together my short list of "top picks" this month.

Order of Israfel's new one should be good. their debut hit me out of left field as being surprisingly good. we'll see what Grand Magus does too. Wo Fat has never quite gotten me, but i'll give it a spin. Destruction has been one of those old Thrash band that have meh'd over time, so i'm less hopeful about that than i am Flotsom or Death Angel. Lord Vicar i thought disbanded, so that's news to me.

Certainly gonna take a look at the Power metal stuff in here and report back with my favorites of that genre for this month.

After hearing a couple teasers and some singles I have my thoughts.

Pretty great release. Was not a fan of them previously, but this I can get into.

Also adding to the list, Haken's Affinity, which was great as well.

edit: Affinity came out last month actually, but who cares
