Based on the video I posted, it seems like they've reverted back to their melodic death/doom-like roots perhaps (?) I'm not very familiar with their stuff because . . . 'Pop Punk'

yeah those guys are still alive and kicking since 1983. I was also initially really excited that Vendetta was releasing a new album. Some of their older stuff was pretty killer. However, they appear to fall into that category of old metal acts that should really just stop imo :D

Hmm... Daedric Tales I guess? pretty slim pickings in the power metal section... I may have to check out Ghost Avenue to see what "melodic heavy metal" is, sounds like it may be up my alley.

Yeah not much going on this next month. Like you said, make sure to check out anything labelled 'heavy metal' too. Sometimes you'll get a more power metal sound (iron maidenish), while sometimes you'll get a more straightforward heavy metal sound (something like Motorhead, etc)

these threads make me feel guilty because i feel like i should browse what's being presented before i answer.

it's good Immolation are still releasing, even though they tend to stick to the SATANSATANSATANSATAN schick, their delivery has always been good enough for me. Overkill? I don't know. they're still putting out what sounds like 90's Thrash [ie "Groove"y bollocks] it seems like Kreator are the only ones that really impress me out of the old guard. Testament's latest at least felt like Thrash, so maybe Overkill can pull it off? to be fair, if i want Thrash i can easily pop on anything pre-1992 or just listen to the heaps of other bands that are springing up. we'll see.

there's just so much stuff here that i'll have to listen to some more before i can say what i'm jazzed for.

Normally I just randomly pick a bunch to try out, and I have to say, either my random picking is really unlucky today, or the vocal mastering on a lot of the albums are weird.
