Assuming a straight conversion, the 2700 should be ~ 300 € incl. VAT in Germany. That’s a good price.
That chip is what I am most interested in. My 1600X is not bad at all but for gaming and recording with OBS two more cores and a couple hundred MHz wouldn’t hurt. Also my 4000MHz memory is waiting to stretch it’s legs.
huh, so the only change for the chipsets is that the CPUs get an “enhanced” xfr2 and more boost? Don’t those get disabled when OC’ing?
Just more marketing b.s. to justify slapping a new number on the same hardware. Unless they’re being forced to a better VRM spec by AMD to support precision boost super nitro overdrive.
This isn’t even really a confirmed leak, it could be total bullshit. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Also there are plenty of people who don’t want to OC. If these turbos are solid, not much reason to anyway.
And if someone doesn’t like that, they can buy a newly-cheaper X370 board, because it’s compatible.
You’re right, just a leak. Shouldn’t use it to justify my dislike of certain business practices
Improving a solid first gen into something refined? Once? Yeah, terrible…
May I ask what would be acceptable in your mind?
The improvements made on the Zen + platform that I hope for are as follows, better memory support, better Linux support, an APU included on the chip, and the fixing of all bugs on Ryzen chips.
Two of those points can be crossed out today.
Linux support is perfect for Ryzen and as far as I know there are no bugs left.
Full Ryzen chips with GPU are not even possible, at least not in the same package format.
Full props to AMD for Ryzen improvements.
What I don’t like is calling the same chipset a new name. I’m against the Call of Duty style yearly release format where the substance doesn’t change, but the cover they put on the front does. That’s all
Again, the rumors above haven’t been confirmed. I’ll withhold judgement until the real news comes out.
Well there is one aspect: compatibility out of the box. You would know that the UEFI is already capable of accepting the CPU you want to put on there. And the vendors don’t have to update every single board that is still in storage somewhere.
Interesting evidence of BS rumor slides:
The new slides are bullshit. Take my word for it.
I could substantiate why, but just wait until April. It will explain itself.
Several tech sites have retracted articles already.
And AdoredTv got caught by it hook line and sinker.
Confidence in full system compatibility is great. This type of scheme is good for that.
I think a negative side effect, though, is that manufacturers have less time to explore niche products. Anyone else feel let down that there are no X300 or A300 mITX mobos? I do… AMD makes this super cool SOC and then nobody takes advantage of it to make a capable board with super value.
Umm. AMD is actually making intergrated a super compact AMD Ryzen SoC platform with the V1000 series.
But as with anything, third parties take their time to test and validate new platforms before building systems with long term support obligations behind it. Particularly when it comes to embedded and special ‘appliance’ type setups.
As someone who has been in the IT industry for a while and seen several new CPU platform launches, I can say that this lag effect after a new platform is released is normal.
Personally, looking at the Ryzen launch, etc I get the feeling that there is a whole generation of people who are for the first time experiencing a product launch of this type. It’s kind of entertaining
I was never going to jump too xen+ being on Ryzen already but more speculation.
I need help with regards to Ryzen 5 2400G + Gigabyte AB350N Gaming WIFI. I run into trouble with the graphics driver.
After installing all chipset driver, I went ahead to install the graphics driver that was found from Gigabyte’s site. However my screen turns black and shows that there is no signal from the output. I’m using a HDMI to DVI converter as I don’t have a spare HDMI cable.
Ryzen 5 2400G
Gigabyte AB350N Gaming WIFI (latest BIOS, all settings at default)
2 X 4GB DDR4 Corsair LPX 2666MHz
Don’t do that. Just use the stuff directly from AMD.
Also, get a proper HDMI cable. They are cheap.
Yeah I just found out how stupid it was to not to use the dedicated cable. I had to rip out the cable of my sister’s to test and it was the cable’s problem all along!

Is there any reason to update bios on msi b350 tomahawk? Latest release was 3/12/18 and has agesa 184.108.40.206a. can’t seem to find a changelog of the new agesa update except for basically new processors. Is there any changes/fixes for the 1st Gen ryzen processors or anything?
@wendell you got any info?
