Well with crypto taking a nose dive in the 20-30% range on some items, I have seen cards come up for sale that are used like stock dell or hp ones and a few gaming ones at closer to msrp… maybe the craze will subside along with new cards coming to releave gpu desert.
At least that’s what I hope. I really want to build a all amd rig… try out that memory feature.

So I got my setup almost put together for plotting. The bug question is… Is there a point for raid0 in case of plotting or not ?
I have 8X Sabrent 2TB NVMEs
3 attached directly to motherboard
4 in Asus PCIE gen 4 card
1 in icy box PCIE to NVME adapter.

Motherboard is Pro WS WRX80E-Sage Se Wifi.

I can raid them all into a single drive in bios raid utility so o would have 16TB disk space in total and I am not worried if any of NVMEs die so no need for raid 10 or anything like this.

Question is, is there going to be any real performance improvement over just plotting on them separately?

I’m not worried about that, got 15tb plotted and only used up 1% so I should be fine with my plotting targets

those fake money are going to be the real money for your grand children and they will look at our fake paper money just like we look at exchanging cow for a pig.

Using your compute power to help science is one thing. Mining/farming is not for “helping” anything other than your own/your children/and grand children’s profit.

Apples and oranges here.
Crypto farming/mining = your own benefit
Folding = philanthropy

Just for clarification- I’m just testing this out on hardware that I already have. No new hardware was harmed to make this plot.

So far, I’m testing to see impact from parameters, etc., but it’s very unscientific since I’m running different tests in parallel-ish.

  • 8 X Sabrent 2TB Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2 2280
  • 3 installed on motherboard directly, 4 installed in ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 Gen 4, 1 installed in ICY BOX IB-PCI214M2-HSL)
  • 2x Yottamaster 5 Bay
  • 10x 16TB Seagate ST16000NM001G Exos X16

RAM top-up ordered and on its way:

  • 4x MTA36ASF8G72PZ-3G2E1

So far plotted:

Plot count: 228
Total size of plots: 24.098 TiB

Plotting around 32 plots a day using swar.
OS: Proxmox
