My BBS

I had fun with the bbs today....

Requests:

  • Remove session timeout (or greatly extend)
  • add ssh access

Also, the chat room commands quickly make it feel like some sort of sext lounge... Felt so dirty using them but I just couldn't stop.

@cotton yes you were doing it right.

Lol! Thanks @FaunCB for putting the BBS together!

I still have no idea what I'm doing on there, but I'll get it soon enough.

So i uploaded qodem, in hopes that others would be able to use the Zmodem protocol, only to realize that they first need a terminal with Zmodem to then download qodem to then run Zmodem.
So anyway,
http://qodem.sourceforge.net/
If you need a "tutorial" on qodem just hit me up lol
Though it should be fairly easy to figure out in about 5 minutes :D

I'll look into it.

It's a great tool, though a little on the annoying side at times

sooo.... it's basically like "putty" but with the express purpose of telnet?

yep, though it's real feature is the file transfer protocols that are required to Upload/Download from the BBS
hence why there's only one file, uploaded by yours truly, and if ppl don't know how to use it, it will continue to be the only one there.

honestly for files why though.... just use dropbox, email, google drive, etc etc

it's a bbs, we are not allowed to speak of such heresy :3

Sad day... my work network blocks the SSH port going out.

This certainly does bring back some memories, great job on it @FaunCB!

try telnet den m8

Many companies do this, possibly to stop dynamic port forwarding.

The default ssh port is 22 whereas telnet is 23 but some people also use 23 as their ssh port so it is reasonable to assume that the company has also blocked port 23 for this reason.

VPN?

Could work but most companies block VPN ports, they don't want their network to be used for non-business related activities which is completely understandable.

some VPNs allow for custom ports/sockets
