Crucial DDR5 Pro Plug-and-Play Memory: For gamers, creatives and professionals
who need DDR5 performance right out of the box, Crucial DDR5 Pro Plug-and-Play
Memory easily improves system performance without the fuss of overclocking, latency
tuning, die chasing or LEDs. Filling a gap in the market, Crucial is now offering the
solution in a 64GB density with a speed of 5,600 MT/s, making it the world’s first DDR5
64GB module with a heat spreader. Users needing greater density will have the option to
purchase the solution as a 128GB kit with two 64GB modules. By offering these higher
densities, Crucial enables consumers to future-proof their systems for increasingly dataintensive games and applications as well as better multitask, handle larger files such as
for 3D modeling, graphic design, create 4K and 8K content, do real-time rendering and
more — without worrying about system slowdowns or crashes.
Crucial DDR5 UDIMM/SODIMM: Crucial is now offering its Crucial Classic DDR5
Memory in a 64GB density at the 5600 MT/s speed grade, across both UDIMM and
SODIMM form factors. Crucial® DDR5 Memory has the blazing speed and massive
bandwidth needed for the next generation of multi-core CPUs, allowing users to
multitask better, load, analyze, edit, and render faster, game with higher frame rates and
significantly reduce system lag for heavy workloads over the previous generation.
It really is a shame that Valve does not support SteamOS for every normal PC.
I know I can just get arch and proton but still, I would love to have SteamOS for every PC so this becomes a thriving community instead of the niche handheld group it is now.
4070 launch price was equally outrageous, actually. But here the issue is that the new 5070 has same price as 4070 Super, so any performance/dollar improvement will be diminuished than if it cost like the current 4070 street price…
In any scenario the price would be still too high for a x70 class card, IMHO.
Anyway, I’m now more worried by the RTX 5070 Laptop having a lower tier GPU with 8GB of RAM while probably costing as much as RTX 5070 desktop. Moreover, the lower tier GPU and the 8GB of VRAM (with small memory bus, too) looks like the same combination that will be adopted on desktop RTX 5060… I wish they put at least 12GB of VRAM on that
Looks like they are going to do it soon…
Why on Earth do they keep on using older architectures when they already have Zen 5, Zen 5c and Zen 5 w/ 3D cache available!
Synology rack mount "enterprise grade™ " NAS doesn’t even use unbuffered ECC from all the models I’ve had to open and recover from.
So minisforum is already beating that.
ECC is just able to correct single bit per word errors, and notify if 2 bit per word errors occur.
Without ECC, garbage can be written to disk and for no reason at all your files are lost despite regular ZFS scrubs.
In prod, you average 1 bit error per gigabyte of RAM (in use) per 2 hours.
For a NAS, that’s enough to wreck the integrity of whatever you are storing after a couple years.
Hence why ECC is a must for any storage appliance.
