CES 2025 MegaThread

interesting that on the nvidia website, where presumably they would only be selling their own card. they still keep the “starting at” price.

without releasing a new Xeon

Intel is on it’s deathbed

When I open the nvidia website I see pricing in PLN. Should be same for accessing it from German IP range.

I thought so too for many years, but when I got my mom a new television I was really surprised because the OS is really snappy and apps open quickly and respond fast. It is a Hisense screen and was not even expensive, but the operating system made an super surprisingly good impression on me.

I would like everyone who is either groaning about intels “imminent demise” or cheering for it, that just a mere 9 years ago AMDs stock price was singular dollars per share, and they had much less promising moves on the board before the release of ryzen.

Intel has made all the correct moves so far to put themselves back on the right track.

I certainly hope so.

I just hope the leadership is all terminated so we can have some actual CPU wars.

If Intel was at least trying, AMD would have to up their game as well.

Instead we get bugged out refreshes and junk product after junk product.

Server efficiency has stagnated since EPYC 7002, without Intel putting in some effort instead of riding their market share, there’s no reason to innovate beyond bigger is better, and faster is better-er.

I am not fully convinced yet that this is the price I will have to pay in the end. But I signed up for the email notification.

On top of that I have to say with how much faster those cards are supposed to be and with all the new features like DLSS4 the prices actually seem reasonable. I kinda expected $3000 for the 5090.

Don’t get me started, with the spin wheel of random-AF bits “glu-” -cobbled together

Now it’s even worse than that… Ryzen AI 9 Max+ 395 or whatever it’s called…

Well, on nVidia site they only sell their own cards, but give informations about more generic RTX solutions. It’s the product of nVidia being at the same time the manufacturer and an integrator

Pricing in Italy on nVidia website as of 6.00 PM of 7th January 2025.
High end actually didn’t increase that much compared to latest street price… but those RTX 5070/5070Ti… ouch! 5070 is priced 70€ more than currently inflated prices of RTX 4070 Super on Amazon Italia

But the 4070 launched at $600 as well, so I am not really seeing where the issue is.

$2500 was the projected cost, but consumer pushback led to the 5090 being a cheaper but lower end card than originally planned.

source: bro, trust me

everyone is missing the real big announcement:

GB200 NVL72
3000 lbs
120 kilowatts
“4x performance per watt vs Ada”
“3x performance per cost”

Not really on-board, but still unified like other AMD APUs. AMD even announced it could run Llama 70B at Q4 while having 96GB allocatable to the iGPU.

Does it come with HDMI or with DisplayPort or both connectors?

just serial console
enterprise

AMD needs to bring back Ruby and also just print the name of the chip on the box.
“AMD Navi 31” sounds way more exciting than “AMD Radeon RX7900XT”
