Building my FIRST PC

You need 2 HDD?  You'd only save £15.  Not worth it imho, especially if you plan on overclocking later down the line.  The Antec One gaming case although cheap is actually quite solidly built and for £41 is a bargain.

Are you wanting an SSD as your main drive and a HDD as a storage drive?  If so, you'll have to make some real sacrifices to quality and future upgradeability to keep the i5 3570K as the main part of your system.  What is your absolute max? Can you go over £600?

Apparently, Fraps records better to another HDD. I can't really go over £600 cause as of now, I'm merely setting myself a target as I have no money. I could get £600 in 3/4 months, so I know all of this is a bit premature, but as I said, I just want to be able to aim towards something rather than just making money. Thank you for your help btw :)

The Dirty Build

CPU - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007RUZKK6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE - i5 3570k

GPU - http://www.dabs.com/products/best-value-vtx3d-amd-radeon-7850-hd-2gb-pci-express-3-0-hdmi-x-edition-893R.html - 7850 2GB value version

Mobo - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/407542 - Giagbyte Z77P - D3, probably one of the most barebones overclocking motherboards on the market.

SSD - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/409849 - Samsung 840 120GB

HDD - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/319639 - same

RAM - http://www.dabs.com/products/kingston-8gb--2-x-4gb--hyperx-ddr3-1600mhz-dimm-240-pin-cl9-xmp-7N58.html - Should be compatible with the Gigabyte board

Case - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005JRICNG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE - Although Cheap, it's one of the best budget buys.  No USB 3.0

PSU - http://www.dabs.com/products/xfx-450-watt-core-edition-single-rail-psu-w--full-wired-cables-7NSV.html - More than enough power for the system.  It's still a rebadged Seasonic.  I wouldn't go past anything above a 7870XT though if you're thinking about upgrading to a beefier GPU in the future.

Total : £602.42  That includes delivery.

Also is all of this good enough to record games with?

I think I will go with the first build... but is it good enough to record with? :3 also I live in Northern Ireland, so the postage is a lot more I'm pretty sure.

Yeah its good enough for recording games with, especially if it's just a hobby.  If you do it a very regular basis though, you'll need to increase your budget,

Hang on you live in Northern Ireland?!  That changes everything then.  Did your £600 budget include delivery or have you budgeted for delivery separately?

Well I wouldn't record on Highest Settings, I am more of a person who prefers performance over quality but I like it look okay.

Yeah I live in Northern Ireland... How much more will this cost now? I didn't think it would be that much only like £20 - £50

Actually not that much.  For Dabs delivery is as little as £1.50 and they don't do a surcharge either.  Orders have to be over £300.  That means it will be cheaper to order everything from Dabs and Amazon

ebuyer is £10 more I think... But would I be better buying this case http://www.scan.co.uk/products/sharkoon-vs3-v-black-green-atx-mid-tower-case-w-o-psu-usb-30-120mm-fan as it's cheaper and my friend says it's actually very good...

Scan charge a huge amount for delivery.  It's upto you.  I'm only recommending the Bitfenix Merc Alpha based on professional reviews.  They all agree it's a very good case for the price and it works out cheaper than the one you've linked from Scan.

The Dirty Build 2

CPU - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007RUZKK6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE - Same

GPU - http://www.dabs.com/products/best-value-vtx3d-amd-radeon-7850-hd-2gb-pci-express-3-0-hdmi-x-edition-893R.html

Mobo - http://www.dabs.com/products/asus-p8z77-v-lx2-s1155-intel-z77-ddr3-atx-8BYD.html - This is version 2 of your original choice.  It lacks a DVI port, pointless if you're using the 7850 or any other discrete graphics

HDD - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008ZBNURG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2GZT5WO4CNKKS - 32MB Cache instead of 64.  Doesn't matter since this is a storage drive.

SSD - http://www.dabs.com/products/sandisk-128gb-ssd-sata-6gb-s-2-5--solid-state-drive-870X.html - Arguably not as good as the Samsung, but...Sandisk are known to make very reliable drives.  They produce alot of OEMs for companies like Apple etc.  Sandisk SSD's are everywhere!  Very cheap.  If you've never used an SSD before the speed of this drive will blow you away.  Load your OS and programs onto this...sparingly ofcourse :)

Case - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005JRICNG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE - same

RAM - http://www.dabs.com/products/kingston-8gb--2-x-4gb--hyperx-ddr3-1600mhz-dimm-240-pin-cl9-xmp-7N58.html - Same

PSU - http://www.dabs.com/products/xfx-450-watt-core-edition-single-rail-psu-w--full-wired-cables-7NSV.html - Same

Total Cost

£605 or slightly less.

could I have the original build 2? lol i know this is your time you're spending but I am reallllllyyy thankful

Which one is that? The one with the 7870 as the main card and no SSD?  Or the one with the Fractal Case?

The 7870 one and possibly the cheaper case :3

Do you require an SSD in that Build? BTW the case really can't get any cheaper, unless you're willing to rock with a mATX board and they're actually more expensive than the motherboard i've linked above.

Plus a 7870 is going to cost you an extra £40, there is no way I can shave off that much.

I don't need an SSD tbh, http://www.scan.co.uk/products/sharkoon-vs3-v-black-green-atx-mid-tower-case-w-o-psu-usb-30-120mm-fan this is the case I was thinking of getting as my friend said it was good and it's cheap

Will you be happy to pay £37 for that case?  Because that's how much shipping will cost if you get it from Scan.  The Bitfenix Alpha case a stronger case in terms of cooling and housing your components.

Oh crap. It's stronger but it doesn't look as nice, maybe one with a window and that price if possible? I like things that look nice aswell as perform well if you know what I mean :/

If you're forgoing the SSD then I can get you a more expensive case.   This is a nice case as well btw, it's similar in terms of looks to the one you've linked, it has better build quality, has USB 3.0 front panels and it's free delivery from Amazon. I actually have the older version in my home atm and it's pretty sweet.  This is the last build.

CPU - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007RUZKK6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

GPU - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/388867 - 7870

HDD- http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008ZBNURG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2GZT5WO4CNKKS - or you can get - http://www.ebuyer.com/319639-seagate-1tb-barracuda-internal-hard-drive-st1000dm003 - for £2 more.  No real difference in speed though

RAM - http://www.dabs.com/products/crucial-8gb--2-x-4gb--ballistix-sport-ddr3-1333mhz-cl9-1-5v-240pin-7Y8R.html - Slower.  Will only impace around 2-3 fps

Mobo - http://www.dabs.com/products/asus-p8z77-v-lx2-s1155-intel-z77-ddr3-atx-8BYD.html - Same as yours except it's version 2.  No DVI port.

PSU- http://www.dabs.com/products/xfx-450-watt-core-edition-single-rail-psu-w--full-wired-cables-7NSV.html

CASE - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007C10AKA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A17AS5ETPMZ9A1 - Black and green.  You can get the red version or even a white one if you want.  Just type in Bitfenix Shinobi into Amazon.

Total including shipping

£598.98

If you opt for more expensive RAM and the 64MB cache version of the Seagate harddrive then add an extra £8 onto that.

What about a higher PSU? I don't know how 450 watt will work and I would like a bit more than nessessacary for upgrades and stuff

Could I also save a bit of money on a better PSU and a cheaper case for the PSU and the postage?
