Bah.

The Vampire Stand-alone is coming out, 2020 is the YEAR OF THE AMIGA DESKTOP

edit:

Amiga is the platform that refuses to die  i miss mine. New, faster, enhanced hardware released 25 years after the platform “officially” died

Every year seems YotLD since the 2000s. Never felt true as seen in the Steam pc stats year after year after year.

We may have a chance to bump it into more than 1% should Win7 normies decide to migrate to Linux (which I doubt).

Nothing is really going to change in terms of the linux desktop i think.
It will just sail on like it does for the last decade already.
There is still a chicken and egg problem in terms of decent hardware support.
So as long as that does not change, i don’t really see it going anywhere fast really.

As long as LibreOffice remains as shitty moderately functional as it has been for a long time, there is not a chance.

PS: Firefox could also use some love on Linux…

I think we’re sooner to see an Its Foss article about Icaros Desktop.

We should really look past Linux and start recommending Temple OS at this point . . .

Actually, I think year of the linux desktop was whenever WSL started to get good. In that capacity I think it works really well.

Year of the linux server/nas/appliance tho. We already here boyo.

So… Year of the Linux Desktop without a Linux Desktop?

The only time linux got a functional desktop capable of multiple refresh rates and no screen tearing.

IMO linux is best experienced without a desktop environment to get in the way. Thats usually when I find myself having frustrations. When its text based everything just works™

Dont make fun of this, MacOS has still more desktop share than Linux… So, their desktop year may very well be ahead of Linux.

I’m not making fun of it at all. I would rather see BSD take off because its licensing model actually makes sense if you like actual freedom.

My linux desktop feels free to me.

1v1 Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo if you don’t accept that. :stuck_out_tongue:

You’re not kidding, the stats seem weird.

I expected Linux to be much more then 0.60%~…
