2/3 mainstream consoles are BSD based too.
@Adubs wasn’t joking. OpenBSD is the GOAT and FreeBSD ain’t half bad either

If we count macOS and Playstations for BSD, then I count Android as linux desktop.
fair enough if you also count iOS as BSD
call me when we have the year of the windows desktop
I’m not calling you every year
not even on my birdthday?
No windows phone, huh?
I used to have a samsung blackjack before switching to a palm centro.
Those were the days.
Sure, the glorious … stone age.
i think 2021 might be the year of the linux desktop
nah, Gentoo was released 2002. It took until 2003 for installation to complete.
So 2003 was doubly the YOTLD
USE=* is a bad idea
But i was running desktop linux at work in 1999?
I imagine you maintain a gist with all of those links.
That’s brilliant. I will now.
Legitimately, this is getting better.
I bought an X470 taichi within weeks of release and had a better experience with Linux than I did with Windows.
Everything worked out of the box. Windows? Had issues getting it to even install - didn’t have an optical drive and Windows wouldn’t see the drivers on USB for the m.2 (maybe i was doing it wrong, but hey… definitely easier on linux).
Was actually one of the reasons (well, it was the last straw - it was gaming only before that) I quit Windows. Because install on my new hardware was a pain in the ass.
" … Year of the Linux Desktop! … "
Ummmmm …
Let’s see …
That would be …
1998 actually.
Thank you very much.
But hey, that’s just me.
Same for the ultimate. Can’t comment on windows really but it ran completely fine on linux.
noob
slackware 96 for the win
edit:
i actually bought it from cdrom.com back in the day (because 28.8k modem)
Only threw it out a few months ago, did a big optical media clean out
Exactly. The point of this nonsense is that it’s going to be adopted by the masses. Extreme doubt.
