Windows Games on Steam for Linux. [Proton client Testing grounds]

Death Rally works. Video taken. No issues seen.

Hey does anybody know if PUBG works and or is willing to test it?

Great. Windows 10 is a nightmare from update reliability issues, lack of conmtrol of your os and zero privacy. I have taken the same decision. I am also testing as much as I can.

Dishonored Works great., Video recorded.
Interesting that Dishonored 2 did not launch for me.
I think I may go back and recheck that next.
Based on what I see with Crysis 1 and Crysis Warhead testing, Vokoscreen running might be causing some launch problems. Also I note that steam updated since yesterday.

Anyhow, I am getting more and more impressed with this Steam Plays Beta the more I test it.

Bye.

@anon97550313 sorry for spam but fo4 is not on the list , tested and working

FFXIV work after using winetricks xact and enabling the usual workarounds (disabling cutscenes and setting browsertype to 2 on the ini files).

However… graphics stop working if I enable “Real Time Reflections”. Does not even need to be high or maximum. Enabling any level of this particular option freezes the game and X11. I can still log into through SSH and there are these messages:

[ 384.698959] [drm:amdgpu_job_timedout [amdgpu]] *ERROR* ring gfx timeout, last signaled seq=202749, last emitted seq=202751
[ 384.698964] [drm] GPU recovery disabled.

GPU is Saphire R9 390. System is OpenSUSE Tubleweed with kernel 4.18.0-1, using amdgpu and Mesa 18.1.6 LLVM6.

AMDGPU is still very experimental for GCN1&2 cards

Nice call
We may need to slow our roll on works and does not because just Skyrim SE for me;
Yesterday: 5-10 FPS unplayable. Sound effects but no music or voice acting.
Today: 60 FPS v-sync pegged but still sound only from effects, no voice or music.

If value are serious we may have good times ahead and I hope there collecting data on what games we are trying.

I can only imagine they’re watching.

Their dream is to be able to get away from MS. The only way to do that is to get Linux support. We’re doing their work for them, partially.

Battleye doesn’t work in Wine yet. You have to basically make stubs for a rootkit in order to make it work.

Nice improvement! It didn’t take long for them to start addressing Skyrim SE, no surprise their. That’s got to be one of their biggest requested fixes, right now. That will be great when they can get the audio working.

I tried replaying a few games that didn’t work previously, with the new update, and still no changes to any of them yet. I have 194 games in my library, 80 of them have Linux builds, and the other 114 do not. I think I have tried more than 35-40 games at this point, and maybe 8 of them have not worked so far. That’s not too bad, and there are quite a few titles that I didn’t think would work, like Sonic Mania, which I could not get to run on Wine.

I need a 3tb drive for my steam library (only 500gb m.2 ATM ) I wish for storage space again because of proton. I have aloooot of games but in the past year I’ve switched 100% over (fuck Cortana reinstalling dlls) and now I can play alot of those games again! And I cannot wait for gamestream dxvk fixes.

I’d test more games right now, but I have to reorganize my harddrive space. I have a pretty basic 500GB SSD and a larger 3tb HDD. No m.2 here at the moment. I held off buying a new PC for a bit too long, but I plan on rectifying that sooner than later now that prices are starting to show signs of getting better. .

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, goddamn DRM shakes stick

Wolfenstein: The New Order fails to launch with this message:

It’s less DRM than a required Rootkit to ensure you aren’t cheating. It directly has root access to system32 processes.

DOOM 2016 Crashes at launch with similar Error to Wolfenstein: The New Order when running Fedora 28 and standard amd drivers:

Here is the screenshot of the error:

Note that Doom 2016 launches and runs fine on my Ubuntu 16.04 LTS installation with AMDGPU/PRO, Rocm and Vulkan SDK installed.

I will swap back my OS to the above on this machine and test to see if I can get the new Wolfenstein 1&2 running for debug purposes only so Steam get feedback.

Bye.

Anyone with that error means you need to install the latest version of mesa and vulkan stuff. I literally just had that error 30 minutes ago, installed those, and played DOOM.
