Im more curious if @HaaStyleCat take on stuff is worth our time.
Do you want this to be funny, informational, etc? Have you given proper thinking for your style or do you want to just wing it (winging it aint a good idea).
I will always feel like since TotalBiscuit died, there will always be a space for better reviewers out there. The question is, what does HaaStyleCat want to get from this? Do you want to transition to your own youtube channel eventually? Do you just want to write down your thoughts?
Honestly you dont really need our permission to do stuff that interest you. You do you. If its legit good, it should take traction and you can take it to any direction from there.
The problem I have with professional game reviewers is right there in the phrase: āprofessional.ā Most of them play games at least 8 hours a day and have become incredibly proficient at gaming - and jaded as well. If a pro reviewer says a game will take 20 hours to complete, I can usually count on 60+ hours. And something that a pro would find boring or āunoriginalā I might just enjoy.
I think it would be a real review. Not too funny but probably some jokes. I thought of giving shot, if it becomes something bigger that would be fun.
I really just enjoy games. I can pick at anything, but I just see so many reviews that say ābuggyā because they always go to one spot on the map and the mesh isnt right and they fall through the world etc. I just feel negatives are often over exagerated, or positives downplayed, etc.
Id just like to give a honest option from a person passionate about games, and wanting to give a real general player review. Ive seen some great games recently that had horrible reviews and seemed to be skewed ratings I wasnt sure was fair.
I feel bots and bought reviews can sometimes mess with good games, and vice versa.
Maybe play an angle of a more āmatureā gamer. Single player focused, etc.
I also have a huge passion for modding. Theres such rich communities out there. While some are technical to mod, some are easy if you have some knowledge of files/structure. They also have some that turn a game into a totally new experiance.
I dunno thought people might like it. Maybe start a thread here, see what happens.
I am so underwhelmed.
I mean I canāt give it negative steam review, cause itās absolutely functional. Better working than most AAA titles anyways, but man am I bored. Itās so slow and soullessā¦
I play 20minutes till dawn and I am gripped, and I feel tension and I am entertainedā¦
I tried the first gameā¦Iām just too stupid for these games. I can brute-force my way through any Souls gameā¦but with Talos Principle it was too frustrating.
Respect to you! I hope the successor will be just as popular as the first one.
Hey doesnāt matter if the technical execution is near perfect, if a game is āsoullessā it deserves a bad review. That said, I wonāt be trying it out
haha, there are times I feel the same way on some of the puzzles, I assure you. Eventually one can get a knack for them, thereās only so many possible combinations of tricks given the limited pieces in play, and the rest ends up being geometry.
That said I think a lot of people may agree with you, the game has received excellent reviews already yet nobody on my friendslist is playing it except one guy so far, ah well. But for anyone that has enjoyed the original, The Talos Principle 2 is shaping up to be a very worthy successor both in puzzles and philosophical debate.
Got Alan Wake 2 free with a new RTX 4070. Currently have my plate full with other games, but if this one is any good Iāll give it a try. Howād it turn out?
I havenāt touched it since releaseā¦a new reboot with the new DLC along with my new daily driver (AM5, 7900XT) and my switch to Linux certainly makes this a totally new experience. Played it on a 2060 on Haswell CPU before.
Time to get those cyber implants goingā¦Iāve always been a Decker in Shadowrun
I have been playing CP2077 since day 1. Played thru at least 3 times and found every mission in Night City. I finished 1 of the Phantom Liberty endings. But I was too bored from playing the same game for 3 years. I wanted a new challenge.
We had to wait a few weeks for the modders to catch up to v2.02.
Cyberpunk 2077 in Virtual Reality is blowing my mind!
It is super immersive and although the fighting has a steep learning curve, you have an advantage in VR battles once you get used to it. I had tried it before and my review was
āThis would be cool if the graphics were betterā
VorpX is a waste of time. Pay Luke Ross $10/month on Patreon for his REAL VR mod. I signed on 3 days ago and already he sent out an update today 11/17/2023.
One tip is reducing Field of View in VR to around 70-75. It adjusts the FOV of the CP2077 HUD - health, map, grenade, etc. to be easier to read. After all⦠the goggles give you infinite FOV cuz you can just turn around and look behind you. I have HP Reverb goggles (2160x2160 @90FPS). Once I tuned my RTX3060Ti settings (Hi rez + Lo quality)⦠I was saying out loud āWoah! OMG! So this is what VR is Supposed to look like!ā
It is challenging to play in VR at first, until you can take advantage of HUD aim sights. I have to coordinate the movement of my mouse hand and then control the cross-hairs precisely by moving my head POV. Kind of like a fighter pilotās helmet. It is tricky but once I got good at it my aim was excellent.
I also taped braille bumps on my keyboard (@ W X I ) so I can find important keys while blind in the goggles.
I died a few times learning my 1st missions but didnāt give up.
Unfortunately my 2nd VR mission is the Boss Fight to defeat Kurt Hansen.
Heās tough, killed me 5 times, but I almost got him.
Iāll get him next time, but itās one of those āhe has 10,000 health and the fight lasts like 30 minutes before you can wear him downā boss fights. Fatigue sets in, then 1 mistake and youāre dead.
