Could you specify your question a bit? It’s a bit vague in general?

  1. What motherboard model?
  2. What Thunderbolt controller generation/revision?
  3. Thunderbolt controller NVM firmware version?

Paging @Wendell for a clean-up at isle 3, I don’t know anything about the technical BIOS/UEFI initialization stuff except the security-settings sub menu, but that’s probably too high-level.
