I'm pretty sure it has to do with the schematics he uses and puts up on youtube. If you watch his most recent video, he isn't sure so he draws it out by hand.
I think this issue is pretty discerning for all of us in the tech industry, whether you repair/refurb or not. Like Rossman mentions, we are fighting between the right to 'own' our devices vs renting them.
