[Solved] Linux is unstable ever since I upgraded to Ryzen

Wow, some interesting stuff! I’ll have to make sure I take a look at everything before I buy just to try and safeguard for failure ahead of time. Thank’s for the writeup, Isaac!

https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=196683

There are some kernel issues with ryzen. I’m running fedora 26 with latest kernel (i think it’s like 4.13.11-200 or something) and I still have issues like cpu soft lockups but adding a kernel param “rcu_nocbs=0-11” has at least stopped it from freezing.

This being said, I have a laptop with a 7700hq and a 1060 and I can’t get any linux to run on it (haven’t tried too hard yet but there are no plug and play solutions). I have never had any trouble with linux until this past year when I have had nothing but trouble getting it to run well.

Since the op has solved there issue and the latest post are about people’s own issues, I’m going to lock this thread. If you have a small Linux issue post it to the small Linux problem thread. If it is a big issue make a thread for it. This thread is locked.
