My work laptop’s system resources was getting hogged by the search indexer. This was a good guide for disabling it

What is your complaint that makes you want to stop indexing ?

It may not help for what you are experiencing but this is how you stop it:

Open Properties of your System drive, usually C: and untick Indexing. Click O.K. If Windows asks you to ignore things, click Ignore all.

Open Services.msc console and disable Windows Search. First stop the service.
