Show Me Your Phone Photography

Back in 2011, I started an instagram account where I would post pictures that I took on my iPod Touch.

Of course I used the filters!

Eventually, I’d get the newer iPod Touch

Then I got an actual iPhone. Though I still liked using the filters lol

I really enjoy the portability of taking photos with my phone; the challenges of getting a good shot with its limitations.

I like taking snapshots of things when the lighting and framing are interesting.

Like this is just a photo of a bathroom window, but the colors were really pretty!

Or this photo I took while sitting in line at a Cookout Drive through.

The quality of the photos isn’t always great.

But there is definitely a vibe I really enjoy.

In 2024, I switched from an iPhone to a Pixel 7

And the vibe definitely changed when I switched over to it. But I think I’ve still gotten some good stuff.

I don’t use instagram any more, but I still like taking photos, so I figured I could start posting some stuff here to get my fix.

What cool photos have you taken with your phone? Please share!!

I don’t usually take pictures for aesthetic reasons, but mainly documentation. But a quick look turned up two from a recent snowfall that happens after an extended warm period in January and February.

I was riding that bike the day before.

Cute rabbit.

That bike is exactly the stuff I like to take photos of!

Modern phones push computational photography a bit to far IMO. Luckily there are ways to buy pass it.

I had to return until 2024 to find any photo taken with my phone that was not for documentation purposes. I always keep one of my 10-15 crappy cameras close because I enjoy shooting with Xenon flash

Yes! Love the taxi cab one!

It’s my favorite. The good memories associated with it help too, I’m sure, but I love the picture.

Its very interesting how the first photos look almost like something from the 80s or 90s, the second set look like late 90s photos, and then a sudden jump to something clearly higher quality and definitely looking mid 2010s. I knew the first set of sensors were bad, but wow I forgot just how bad. They have a nice sort of vibe to them now days still dont get me wrong, like an old timey feel. Just so interesting how low quality the sensors actually were.

There’s the community photography thread:

I’m not a photography nerd, and I don’t take many pics (certainly not compared to my wife). One I did take for æsthetic reasons, using my Pixel 6a, is this one, the Zaan Hotel, next to Zaandam train station:

Got some new photos taken with my Pixel 7!

Can’t use the pixel the same way I could use an iPhone, but it can still take some decent photos.

I took a similar, but less urban photo this weekend.

I recently got a Pixel 10a, I really like how the marco lens works.

What is that first photo? That’s crazy looking! Also love the antler shot. I’m a sucker for high contrast lighting!

Got any photos to show from your 6a?

Its the flower from a Apache Plume, the last photo is a shot of the full bush.
