Only thing I disagree with the Norton icon I see there. Otherwise I’m almost envious, I also want that many systems to play with

lol, Yes you are right. I get flack for it all the time. I just haven’t researched a better alternative for windows as yet. Thank you too, it is fun…if not warm in here lol

Windows 10 has Windows Defender you really don’t need more from what I researched.

Yeah that’s a nice setup, and that’s perhaps the biggest heatsink I’ve ever seen inside your Node 804.

Actually, Windows Defender, with all the telemetry going around, has come pretty much in the top 5 best anti-virus software on Windows. I still wouldn’t use Windows on my main rig though.

Yeah, MSI Frozor L. I had to use some noctua hardware to mount it. I chose it because it was offset just enough to allow all the ram slots to be populated.

[Build Log] Home lab in a box (first time trying)-x470d4u Proxmox Build Logs

Well here was one of the issues I had. I thought about going full watercooled … [IMG_20200701_132733574] …but I decided I’d go air cooling. This led to a few issues. The Noctua NH-D9L, Premium CPU Cooler with NF-A9 92mm Fan I had from another build was my go to for this. If I kept it facing up or down that probably would have been fine, but I wanted a front to back flow to go with cases flow. This wouldn’t be possible with the mounting suppled by Noctua, as seen here. [IMG_20200829_020836166] Not only did it hit there but it also hit the heat sink on the opposed side. I also in my “parts closet” a a slightly used MSI Core Frozr L. I chose that cooler because it was “offset” to one side. After I unmounted the top plate and flipped it 180 degrees, it was just how I wanted and would clear the ram and face front to back, but then I ended up with a mounting problem as well being unable to mount it the direction I wanted. [IMG_20200829_020704082] [IMG_20200829_020745833] This is the problem people run into with stock ryzen coolers as well. I needed a solution so I started to look at the two mounting kits. I discovered if I used the Noctua mounting kit on the board, and the two short ryzen adapters with the grey risers for ryzen. I had a good base that matched up with the cross-bar holder for the MSI cooler. I then removed the spring loaded screws from from the noctua cooler by removing the c-clips and attaching them up to the MSI cooler cross bar. Heres a picture of the hardware and it mounted. [IMG_20200829_021453843] [IMG_20200829_022738222] [IMG_20200829_032508478] This worked out great I had good contact with the CPU and TIM was spread evenly when I removed it to check. I was using the bare sticks of Kingston ECC ram, and as long as they are installed BEFORE the cooler the clearance works fine. @reavessm You had asked so here’s some info for ya. Hope it helps.

Added a little thing to my “battle station”

I now have a 100% fanless ~ silent PC under my desk, for watching twitch, youtube or listening to music, all the light stuff you dont need a bigger machine for.

I turn it on with the red button under the monitor so I don’t even have to see it, nor hear it

Turned out pretty neat imo.

Kudos! Decided I needed the same thing. I wasn’t so worried about the noise as I usually have a fan on 24/7 in my office due to my location in the desert. I went the ASrock Desk Mini X300 with the Noctua NH-L9a-AM4 with a 4650G.
Nice clean build.

yea i figured a higly overclocked 8600K with 64GB RAM and a 6800XT is little too much to watch youtube and such stuff on (my gaming rig)… it most likely also ease up a little on my powerbill in the long run

I actually think the X300 is very similar to this, just bigger and a more powerfull APU, so you need the aircooling

Finally have my battle station complete. Live edge fir slab on an electric adjustable height leg kit. 2x BenQ 27” monitors and an Acer curved 2k monitor.

You can’t see very well in the pictures but I sanded a curve into it so it slopes off. You don’t feel the rough bark in your arms.

I try to keep it as clean as possible. Had to try various cable management system due to the sit/standing desk. But in the end i settled for this

and velcrotape.
Otherwise works great
