oops that’s supposed to be American Sign Language. British is ironically enough one of the few sign languages that isn’t very related to American.

You mean English, right? From England? I like the USofA but I think it is more worthwhile to learn British English. Proper English is like learning Fire bending from the dragons instead of the Fire Nation.

Bonus that British English feels more posh and cultured, almost elitist… :joy:

Was a typo/missing word.

No drama.

Was intruiged by spin off languages.

Chinglish?

Its fun. My raiding WoW raiding mates in Thaurissan were from SG. It is also british English based but heavily fused and accented in chinese.

I was always telling them to say words again or say in a different way.

The northern Beijing style of Chinese sign language is based off of American, but the southern Shanghai Chinese sign language isn’t.

Linguists might argue that American English is more “pure” or original than modern British English is. Funnily enough the elitistness in British English is what was changed from the more original rhotic English Americans still speak.

America was a the hub of pretty much all sign language because of Martha’s vineyard (I might be discounting the French here a little, they were instrumental in early development before the Americans took over).
British sign is awkward, its got a two handed alphabet.

Good sir, you seem to be courting controversy with such statements! :joy:

Let’s say that, hypothetically, you just bought an used RTX3080TI that has no real procedence nor warranty for a bit of a deal, but then your friend who’s building a new computer offers you to trade said RTX3080TI for a brand new RTX4070, with 3 years of warranty, albeit it is a slightly inferior model, would you:

  • Keep the RTX3080Ti
  • Exchange for the RTX4070

I would swap but only if it had the older power connectors. If its the new ones that tend to catch fire, its a hard pass, at least for me.

Spontaneous combustion aside, the 40 series lineup is weird. I’d keep the 3080Ti.

I would go with the RTX4070. The reason is that I do like all the tricks and enhancements the modern cards offer and the newer series is faster with all of them and offers more features, including DLSS3, NVIDIA Reflex and faster raytracing. I mean with DLSS3 you can significantly increate the FPS or play on a way higher resolution, or you can enable nice raytracing effects while staying on the same resolution and with the same amount of FPS when using it in combination with DLSS3! My reasoning here is that the 4070 is a bit slower, but with DLSS3 you could compensate by upscaling a bit. In case you are only interested in pure rasterization performance and not much in raytracing you should stay with the RTX3080. Apart from that, both cards are mighty fine already.

The particular model i was offered uses a single 8 pin PCI-E power connector, i’m also not a fan of the new 12pin.

You know, i really don’t mind upscaling, since most of the time i play games on my couch, even back when i had my 2070 i was using DLSS and it was really good!
And more and more games are releasing with DLSS and FSR already built in as well

From the operating system perspective all three should do the trick. On the second poll I voted for AWS, because it is the de facto standard, Azure and Google are not in as high demand as AWS from my perspective.

Also to iterate a bit, when you have found your grove with one of the big providers and you do your stuff well, you can use the others also to some extent. You might not be to knowledgeable about each service they offer, but many things are similar.

I got myself a HP Reverb G2 recently. Is supported by both Microsoft and Valve and has a pretty good resolution. I paid $400 for a refubished headset including both controllers. It was practically new.

Are you wearing glasses?
I had the chance to test the Vive 1 and Index, and both work.

I wear glasses, still works. There is also the possibility to buy prescription grade lenses.

I’m working on a PC for a friend, and we are on a really tight budget, so:

  • Ryzen 5 5500 + RTX3060 Ti
  • Ryzen 5 5600 + RX7600

Due to insane pricing , these are the options.
