Its quite ironic that Shimoneta is anime about fighting the government oppresion that forbids possesion of any sexual explicit material is being censored so much.
Prison School has the same problem. Putting censorship all over the fanservice completely defeats the point of anime being ecchi. Nevertheless Prison School is still excellent.
I've never been into ecchi, but I can u,deer and where this is a problem. Not is it a bummer for people who watch it, but ecchi itself is a huge moneymaker. How are you supposed to make the most out of a genre that's being censored out the ass?
That being said, isn't it possible for an artist to, basically, work for for a studio in the US (or any other country) and not have their work censored outside of Japan? As in his work goes straight out of the country to the studios servers or something. I'm not very savvy about this, but its just a thought.
Thing with ecchi anime is people expect it to be like Hentai and it's not. Mind you some ecchi animes get very close to hentai but most don't go deep into it. As for why it's popular of course the sexualization is the main reason, but it's also cause its disturbingly outrageous. Depending how you define what's funny.
Neon Genesis Evangelion was veeeery good. Watch the movie for the better ending.
I think you should look on some other genres, something like Ergo Proxy, very dark and mysterious, not like anything popular we see. Psycho pass is very good too, and you won't see plumpy boobs every 5 seconds.
FMA Brotherhood is still my favorite show.
They could work under different publisher and have their work uncensored but you have to understand that their primary audience are the japanese people. In america or europe the particular anime wouldnt be as nearly popular. Therefore the artists would make very little money.

Well, most studios that tend to publish anime that is very daring and filled to the brim with sexual content and censored is usually uncensored (Anime was probably made uncensored and then later censored to meet the broadcast guidelines or the law) later on down the line and released through the anime's blu-rays.
Well honestly, ecchi always ends up as a tease, don't expect anything more. I say, if you want to watch hentai go for it. Also there are numerous artists that make their own depictions of the anime with doujin.
The only anime that actually delivered sexual content, while still being censored, was Yosuga no Sora. Although it was based off a VN so hence the sexual content.
Afro Samurai, Berserk and Gantz had all sex scenes too.
Ah, never seen those. Haven't had time to watch many shows before getting into anime 2009.
