NN is dead but my internet speeds goes up?

Just recently my speeds has gone up from 60 mbps to about 120 mbps. I am guessing its supposed to be 100 mbps after I checked. Couple days ago my router just out of the blue just shut down itself for a bit and I just assumed (cause its a thing where I am at) someone ran into the telephone and ppl were checking the lines. Afterword tho I noticed that things were downloading higher than normal speeds. So I checked my internet speeds and sure enough it was double than it was before.

. Wondering if anyone else got the same thing going on.

Just tested mine, getting record Download and Upload
used to be 2.5/.5

I would post why i think the end of NN would be beneficial (tho sketch as hell) but i don’t wanna start a flame war.

I dunno, could be one of those “watch my left hand while my right hand is doing something else” deals. I am sure there will be more things happening as time goes on.

maybe, though tbh i doubt it, mind you the death of NN will allow ISPs to, in essence, do QoS configs

This is sort of a tin foil hat theory.

What if they are giving fast lanes to things like speedtest in order to make their services look good?

I know with verizon, they always want you to test your speed using THEIR speed tester which gives you inflated numbers so that they can tell you that they are providing you with proper speed.

They could just be giving network priority in order to boost their numbers.

I would start running ping tests on youtube to see if your network speeds dont reflect what they used to be.

i thought of that
it’s fairly consistent throughout.
in fact i can actually load 1080p 60 frames without much buffering, i’m digging this anomaly.

also FTC > FCC lol

I would say its speculation. Not full on tin foil hat atm, but it isn’t the first time this sort of thing has happened. I am just wondering if what has happened to me has also happened else where. Sort of inquiry on my part atm if people’s net speeds has changed.

I mean free internet speed boosts are not unheard of. I was paying for the highest internet speed available at my house which was 50 MB/ps down.

Once more people moved into the neighborhood, they rolled out more infrastructure and increased my speed to 250mb down for free.

Soooo this could all honestly be coincidence.

That is exactly what it is…

It’s also now 1AM on the east coast… Prob less people on the net.

Seriously, this is akin to saying “I just ate therefore world hunger doesn’t exist”

Nothing has even happened yet. The regs haven’t even changed yet. They just voted on it.

Even after they do change it isn’t like a switch is going to be flipped and everything is going to go to shit either…

So the speed changed days ago before the vote. So even if the Regs did change they had nothing to do with it…

Sounds like they just upgraded their infrastructure…

they usually inform us when this happens because my ISP is basically a mom and pop op.

and it’s expensive as hell
(they poor stick people)

probably just the planned upgrade they are rolling out and you are getting some extra

how would i know if im served by them?

go to speedtest…it says…

ah ok, annnd that would be a no
not served

It’s not dead they just voted to kill it behind the barn soon. There is also no way you’re gonna notice right away, they also have to wring their hands and setup the fuck the common person button and all that.

For all you know ISP will boost your service in an attempt to change public perception on Net Neutrality or they’ll do it just slowly enough to avoid detection. They’re not stupid, there’s a reason the vote was guaranteed, from the moment Pai became chairman.

Just the advertised speed for me.

That’s not too bad, well, who am i to be talking.
Did another test and i hit 7/3
what the hell is going on

Thats of course obvious, pretty much every isp does that.
The reason for that is simple, using their speed test tool gives them a reliable number of the speed that you could reach on their network.
So that they can claim that the advertised speeds can exally be reached.
If you use a “third party” speedtest, or use a third party download source thats outside of their own network.
Then the actual advertised speeds can never be guaranteed.
Because then there are manny more factors that will affect the actual download speed.
Thats why isp’s allways advertise with " UPTO download speeds".

This is unrelated but your profile picture is giving me shivers. Is it photoshoped or is that a real worm parasite inside frog’s eye?

Business stay in business by keeping a majority of their customers happy.
That means netflix and streaming services will thrive under repeal, Tor and porn sites will suffer.

Time to look forward to 5G and beyond, tech that will make cable Internet look like AOL and Compuserve.
