Oh, that's not even the worst of it. I just shot over to Akihabara on Friday and picked up a Hitachi laptop with 1GB of RAM, a hyperthreaded Atom N450 and a 2GB CompactFlash card as its internal storage device. It's an industrial machine that runs ADC Datasweeper so it doesn't need to be barebones. But it's gonna be fun to take for a spin. Honestly it will be better in an apocalypse than the sharp because it runs straight off of 12V power, so I could plug it straight into a car battery and it'd be fine.

Sounds hot. it's probably still 64bit im guessing. I really want one of those old portable palm tops

64-bit. Although the chipset only supports a max of 2GB so it doesn't really matter. And because it's a single core atom, 64 bit doesn't do anything for it in terms of perfromance. Not that it ever really did anyway, it just raised the number of addresses it can target...
