I have issue with Bazzite in Arc B580 GPU. Whenever I move a window, it shows an afterimage of it and the texts became square. Worst is when I open ProtonPlus app, it became a white mess, even without doing something with it. Not sure where or how to try to solve this.
What kernel version are you using?
Do you have intel xe display drivers installed?
Kernel version: 6.16.4-114.bazzite.fc42.x86_64 (64-bit)
I’ve never tried to use Linux with Intel Arc B580, even tho I’ve been using Linux with my AMD RX6600 GPU many times, but never dwell on hardware stuff, because they just work.
I have my A770 running mostly good on Kubuntu … but I also installed the intel mesa drivers. Are you using generic intel kernel drivers?
I still have issues on waking from sleep mode… I have had to adjust my power settings to just not allow it to sleep but just lock the screen.
dnf list intel --installed
This will tell us what you already have installed. Arc cards no longer use the i915 driver, so we are looking for xe or some intel-specific mesa package as Abub said.
It returns with “No matching packages to list”
Welp. glxinfo spews many text, but those were at the top:
“Extended renderer info (GLX_MESA_query_renderer):
Vendor: Intel (0x8086)
Device: Mesa Intel(R) Arc™ B580 Graphics (BMG G21) (0xe20b)
Version: 25.2.1
Accelerated: yes
Video memory: 12216MB
Unified memory: no
Preferred profile: core (0x1)
Max core profile version: 4.6
Max compat profile version: 4.6
Max GLES1 profile version: 1.1
Max GLES[23] profile version: 3.2”
Welp. I have moving on to CachyOS, since every options at Bazzite were “it’s already installed” when searching for the solution. Even Bazaar refused to load.
And Bazzite is immutable, so trying to figure it out with limited help from online and Intel being so new in Linux makes difficult to try to fix my issue.
How’d Cachy work? I hadn’t offered any help on bazzite, as I’ve never used it nor fedora (tried it for a week and noped out.)
First few hours: Great, so far. Just don’t install using proprietary drivers like Nvidia does, since AMD and Intel are with open-source.
I also use Bazzite and I am having a similar issue with the Arc B580. The text becames squares and I get some weird purple color boxes in the terminal when I use GPU related commands like lspci, it crashes afterwards.
I don’t any have problems at all in Windows even after running some tests.
Firefox is working, but the file manager and almost everything else is unusable. I can’t even copy my files to my other ssd to install a new OS.
dnf list intel --installed to see what you already have.
dnf se intel to see available intel-related packages.
I don’t use Bazzite, but you’re looking for mesa and intel xe.
Have you enabled re-size bar in your bios?

Sadly I could not find (quickly) any driver guides for bazzite (it uses ostree instead of dnf for packet management?) I’d search this forum for info, I remember watching vids with B580 in linux. Most likely running on Fedora
TLDR: you are not alone, I haven’t but will try to force a kernel update to 6.17 maybe or move to tumbleweed 6.16.7.
I have these issues too. I have tumbleweed install for this reason. I was looking for a distro with a more current kernel. 6.16.4 is old for the b580, I think its release drivers. They work fine, but there have been many improvements on the Windows side so I figured it was a driver issue too. I switched to mint 6.16.7 and that worked well for a bit then Forced a kernel update to mainline at the time 6.16.8 which was better. I ran into other limitations with Bazzite and didnt feel a forced kernel update would help it so I shelved it for the past 6 weeks. I am now having my own issues with tumbleweed vs windows. 6.16.7 was stable and better performance, then it borked itself sometime between 6.16.8/9 (thought 16.7 was the RC), so I had to reinstall under 6.17. each time reinstalling steams proton library. tried a fresh 6.16.7 install of tumbleweed to no success. both 16.7 and 17 w/ and w/o intel open cl drivers installed. so for the past 2 weeks i have booted into bazzite to game, not installing anything because both bazaar and console are borked, but atleast my games work there. I still have tumbleweed 6.16.7 on a thumb drive. I might try another clean install after I try a kernel update in bazzite, idk if its possible with it being immutable, which might be why I’ve been hopping these last few months.
