Instinct MI25, better than a Tesla M40 (for normal people anyway)

More than the 12GB M40. The people who would want a compute card with plenty of VRAM would probably get more from one of these, or 2… or 4. A couple of these and you don’t also need a GPU for only display outputs.

You will need a PSU upgrade though LOL

I sir have 2, 800 watt server PSUs, and I would love a good excuse to use them.
I should learn how to model and animate some of that high fidelity furry porn. Not as much of that stuff out there as you might think, especially not the straight stuff. Can’t remember how many times I’ve seen a tiny thumbnail and thought “oh, that might be good click… oh, nevermind”. How fast do you think these things could render large quantities of fluid accurately interacting with fur?

Wonder how much air flow I’d need to cool these if modded to be single slot… vega 64 Katana. Could jam 5 of those onto my server board, 7 if RAM wasn’t in the way.

Eventually I’d love to get a second one to mess with more.

what’s this card in picture? is says geforce gtx… not an AMD one

A Galax 1070 Katana… as an example of what I was thinking I could do.

Trying to get a Thunderbolt 3 card to see if the docks will give me multiple display support. Might give up finding all that cheap and just try a Displayport MST hub; those are available for less than insane prices.
If I can crudely slap it all together and just not have full hotplug support… good enough. Could use the extra USB for this damn server board. It tops out at 7 USBB 2, and 0 USB 3.

Don’t you need special headers for thunderbolt

Supposedly you can jumper 2 wires on the card’s header and make it work. I’ll see if I can find where somebody claimed that and link it here.

So if I can jumper/force on or whatever, and preferably just flash the firmware to always “zero security”… that would be preferable.

Serious question for anybody to answer. If somebody can plug into thunderbolt and clickityclack on a terminal to hack your shit… why couldn’t they plug into PCIe and just do the same?

Glad to see it’s not lacking the underfill.

Sexy milled vapor chamber.

Had a black screen crash, decided to pull it apart to see if there was anything obvious. Thinking Windows fucked up, or … ??? IDK yet.

Looks like the FPGA (missing on the WX9100) Has it’s own PCIe interface. Maybe the vBIOS exposed at post (which the card initializes itself with, has the card initialize with some kind of passthrough that effectively directly exposes the FPGA to the motherboard. Wonder if flashing just the POST vBIOS would be sufficient.

Currently trying to sort out a symptom almost identical to this

I hope this is driver shenanigans and not VRAM problems.

Might have made some sort of mistake, but I tried mismatching vBIOS binaries; not getting results I’m looking for.

Must be more complex than just presenting values.

Oh no, couldn’t resolve shecksum, better crash without error mesage and save a 0KB file…
It’s my understanding that I can make it work without the checksum, just need the values set.
