I told what was my situation, I don’t know if that applies to your situation too.

Here is where you can find the whole mess I went through.

Phonecall to asus, 41 minutes total.
Rma issued
Should be sent to my house and my email.

Will ship it back inside its original box and maybe some packing peanuts or something

Says AFTER they get the mobo
It may be an additional 10 days from that time, b4 they send the replacement or the repaired mobo back.

So in theory, im looking at like 2+ weeks of no pc time

Lol I wish
Lol im posting that to my twitter

Well, this Chronicles rhe 2nd Asus motherboard that I have ever had to return

Sounds like cpu to me.
But yeah who knows, could be anything.

If you connect a system fan to the cpu fan header, does it spin wenn you power it on?
Does the watercooling pump still work properly?
Could be that it died, and the cpu overheated and died aswell.

If you read through the thread
you can see I removed the CPU and rebooted the motherboard
and it still provides the same boot code error which rules out the CPU

This is a motherboard that can get you to post with no CPU installed

Dont mind if i do

I disagree that basicly doesnt rule out anything atall.
If the cpu is either defective, not properly seated or not installed atall.
It will indeed popup with a cpu error right?

It wouldnt be the first time that a cpu dies in a X99 motherboard,
because of an over volting issue caused by a bad bios version.

If the CPU is not installed at all the motherboard returns a 0-0 error
That is the same error code I get with the CPU installed

With a normal working motherboard of this type it would go into BIOS with no CPU installed
And not give me an error message at all

You can update the BIOS from USB sticks without Ram or CPU installed on this motherboard

As you can see from the video upon pressing the power button the motherboard lights up and immediately dies and then automatically attempts to reboot but hangs on checking its hardware

00 error code
Is a code that is not even supposed to exist

The zero zero code is not a CPU error code

00 is simply the code that displays when the system first powers on

As the system cannot even pass its own checks to the point where an error code for the motherboard could be generated pointing me towards a specific subsystem then it is the motherboard that is dead
It is so dead it cannot provide an error code

All this makes little difference as I am already uninstalling the motherboard and putting it in a box to ship

Man I feel for you, I HATE MB problems.

Its so gay
Its so soo gay.
They say up to two weeks…
Urrrgghh
What will I do?

Well I’m already sending the motherboard back maybe I should RMA the CPU too just for good measure
I wonder how cool until then be with the situation unfortunately I have no way to test either part with a separate CPU or motherboard

As I mentioned I had two Gigabyte boards have a similar problem. There was an ongoing issue with RAM training during cold boot that was plaguing the early boards but after OCUK got Gigabyte involved a stable BIOS appeared quite quickly.

First board was exchanged on delivery as it was under 30 days, 2nd was 3 weeks (went back to Gigabyte) as it was after 90 days and the 3rd has been 100% reliable since with the fixed BIOS. On the strength of that or I’m stupid! I bought the same board on Ebay as there was one very cheap (probably similar RAM issues) but again applied the fixed BIOS and that’s been running 24/7 for several months now with 4 x GPUs though I had intended to keep it as a swap out initially.

Well this mobo survived I think 4 bios revisions
It was on the newest non beta bios when it died

Just cant get over that,
Was playun skyrim, then poof, power off

I have a friend that spent 5K on his x99 system, x99 sabre tooth motherboard spontaneously failed one day, it’s apparently an issue with some x99 boards, the premium ones. He received his replacement board a couple of weeks ago and everything is fine for now, no idea if he got a fixed version of the board or another one with the same probability of random failure???

A motherboard without cpu installed, will not boot to the bios.
It exaly wont boot atall.
Same story goes if you have no memory installed.

I suppose that you are confusing with Bios flashback,
which allows you to flash your bios from a usb without cpu installed.
But thats something diffrent.

It could of course still be a defective motherboard, i dont say that its not.
But it could verywell be a defective cpu aswell.
I have seen more cpu´s suddently die in a X99 board for some mysterious reasons.
This mainly happenend by the first batch of X99 boards.
