Good HTML Editor

Codelobster

Notepad++ for Windows,

GEdit for Linux.

Notepad++ will adapt to the language you're using by the type of file that is open. Therefore I've gotten into the habit of saving my file.html before I even do anything with it. Otherwise agreeing with @Insane, Notepad++ is awesome.

+1 for Sublime, great text editor!

Free and can do FTP aswell A++

There is an open source free editor made by adobe called Brackets, its nifty, looks nice, and is made for web dev. However I strongly suggest picking up vim due to the sheer amount of functionality that it carries with it.

Vim intuitive? The first time I started it up I couldn't write text or even get out of there. I've got the basics figured out now and use it for most quick edits. For full programming I'm not nearly as efficient with it (yet) as with smth else. Huge learning curve IMHO, but I like it nonetheless.

used dream weaver back in the day. dunno if adobe still supports it.

mostly these days people create webpage UI's in photoshop or illustratator and just "slice" up all the elements and convert it to a html+ graphics

Lawd have mercy on us.
