Hello community. SkullAbyss back once again. So I am on a new quest to find a new form of diet. (Up in the title). I am moving forwards for a healthier life. I want to work on eliminating all the shit from in my life like frutose corn syrup. I am looking for different foods and stores that I am wanting to look for. I do live in Horseheads New York. I am also looking for some new beverages to drink as well. Like completely organic tea, water, beet and soda. I want to go completely natural and organic for my diet. I will be keeping my eyes open for farmers markets where I know I can get organic foods.
There's no advantage of gluten free diets unless you've got Coeliac disease or have a "gluten sensitivity". Using that term very loosely because some people claim to have a sensitivity, but it's just the nocebo effect.
I'm not going to touch GMOs with a barge poll on here because I don't want to cause a massive debate.
Interesting on what you said about Gluten. I didnt want to spark a debate either. I just want to better my diet overall.
Gluten is a combination of proteins, not a carbohydrate like so many people like to say. As long as you eat a well balanced diet it won't be a problem.
You should definitely check out Bakery Cafe Too in Sayre as they're just down the road from you. They specialize in gluten free and local ingredients from the area.

I have celiacs so I try to make a visit when ever I'm down that way. They do have regular gluten stuff too.
there's no such thing as a gluten allergy.
everything else seems good. good luck.
I know my mom has a gluten sensitivity because of a disorder dealing with candidis
Where about are you located? I often go to sayre
lol, I've got a friend who's a coeliac. Tell that to him.
He had some gluteney food at a someone's house once not realizing and was stuck on the toilet for hours.
probably something else that is usually in glunety foods.
Instead, as RCS reported last week, FODMAPS are a far more likely cause of the gastrointestinal problems attributed to gluten intolerance
Wow, I never knew gluten sensitivity was shrouded in so much pseudo science.
It's almost as bad as GMOs...
when a market is created and money is involved..
It's a good idea to avoid gluten containing carbohydrates such as wheat, rye, and barley if you are trying to for a diet focused on weight control but it's not because of gluten. The complex carb in most grain is amylopectin-alpha. It's digested faster than any other complex carb and can raise blood sugar levels very quickly, causing an insulin spike. 2 slices of whole wheat can increase blood sugar more than a snickers bar depending on an individuals body chemistry. This leads to crash a few hours later and cravings for more carbs. It's better to replace those with green vegetables and fruit that digest slower so blood sugar spikes are avoided and it'll reduce cravings for high carb foods. Just because a food is labeled gluten free doesn't mean that it’s free of amylopectin-alpha though. A lot of gluten free foods substitute rice or other carbs that contain amylopectin-alpha for the grain based flours that would normally be used. It works pretty well. You can maintain the same calorie intake and still loose weight just by controlling your blood sugar levels, replacing the calories from bread or paste with vegetables and some fruit. Sucks giving up pizza thought... and Taco bell.
Amylopectin is one of the two molecules that makes up starch (the other being amylose). You could have just said, "Avoid starchy foods. Starch is metabolised into sugar." haha
"The Bullet Proof Diet" is what works for me. It's designed for creating "high performance" individuals. I can go on about how the diet is based on science an biohacking, but talking about diets is no different than talking about politics and religion. People have strong beliefs about their diets.
I have never had a weight problem and have always been pretty healthy. I'm one of those guys who can eat anything and never gain a pound. Some problems I did have was pretty bad ADD and very irregular sleep patters. The Bullet Proof Diet literally fixed these issues for me. I got my energy back and my ability to focus went through the roof.
water
This.
Drink a lot of water, eat whenever you feel like it, and try to walk/cycle everywhere. You'll lose a ton of weight.
If you're doing all three of those things you can treat yourself every now and then. Just don't overdo it on junk.
I've gone from 15 stone to just above 12 in 6 months by doing that.
Replace, soda and fruit juice with water and you're gold!
skullabyss, have not seen you in ages!
sorry not really contributing to the topic, just wanted to say hi :)
There's absolutely nothing that makes genetically modified food inherently less healthy than "organic" alternatives. Frankly focusing on the "naturalness" of your diet instead of what the food actually is/contains sounds like waste of time and pseudo science.
