Gigabyte MW34SP0 Motherboard

This motherboard as a OPNsense router upgrade looks very interesting. Hopefully it will be released soon.

Another listing and pricing is slightly better…

@diizzy: Slightly better? Considering the current USD/EUR exchange rate, and that the price includes 17% VAT and shipping (probably Eurozone only though), that €456.20 price is quite the bargain, depending on whether they can ship to the US for less than an arm and a leg.

Heck, maybe that means we’ll see it at NewEgg or elsewhere in the US for close to $400! Still want the 10GbE iteration, though…

It’s still very expensive, I would’ve expected it go be around Asus Pro WS X570-ACE pricing or slightly below. :-/

@wendell: Would it be possible for you to test iGPU VM passthrough? I am looking to build and would like to use the dual media encoders inside a VM.

Also I did find a distributor that you can order DDR5 ECC from. It’s ordered direct from Micron but a bit pricey.

Same thoughts here. I would love to replace my older X9 supermicro setup in the very near future, but have to see where the market unfolds.

Personally, I have a desire to stay in the supermicro realm, but other manufaturers are not out of the running.

Does anybody know if there is an option for manual memory overclocking in the BIOS?

I would for sure buy this board once it comes out with BIOS compatible with Raptor Lake (Intel 13th gen CPUs) that I will buy as soon as it is released. As I dont have any socket 1700 12th gen CPU I would not be able to upgrade the BIOS to raptor lake so need it out of the box…

After watching “Son of the forbidden router” I’m curious how well this will do as a TrueNas system. I was planning on v4 zeon but maybe this would be better.

Interestingly, the QVL list for this board includes the 12100F, but not the 12100.

@wendell could you ask them if it is an omission, or is the 12100 somehow special? I don’t think I stand a chance of getting a reply.

@wendell sorry to @ you but are you able to check if the i5-13600k works with truenas scale 22.02 (ideally) with iGPU disabled or 22.12, i have this motherboard coming in 2 weeks, and i need to decide if i should get i5-12600 (all P cores) or isit okay to get i5-13600k, and just wait until linux thread scheduling gets better overtime but for now it works for basic NAS stuff

Also your video on this motherboard was amazing!

Does anybody know if the pcie 5.0 slots (x8 + x8) can be further split / bifurcated?

I am curious if it is possible to attach dual m2 nvme adaptors (x8 wide) on these pcie5 slots.

I contacted Gigabyte and they said that the current BIOS does not support Raptorlake and we have to wait for new BIOS for the Raptorlake support. There was no time indication given for the BIOS update.

I am currently waiting for this BIOS update so I can buy some raptorlake cpu.

Has anybody tried already to boot this up with a raptorlake cpu and current BIOS (for science) ?

Thanks for telling me! this is something i havent considered, i assumed it would be working, i was planning on buying an alder lake & raptor lake cpu to test both but its probably best to just get alder lake until a bios update comes out, and then hopefully returning it if its within 30 days and getting raptor lake!

Also in terms of the bifurcation i dont think it can be based on the manual of the motherboard which is annoying, AMD has bifurcation on lock, intel needs to catch up

Hello together,

did someone know how I can control the speed of my case fans? They run atm at 1350rpm. I use debian with lm_sensors but “sudo sensors” did not recognize the rpm of the fans.

Thanks

Solution see post #51 down this thread.

btw. I have a lot of CPU Lockups every day. It always ends in a kernel panic.

I cannot find any where in the UK to purchase this mother board, any chance of getting the suggested group buy set up?

I’ve also been having trouble finding this motherboard. If there was a group buy I’d certainly be interested.
