Gaming, on my Tesla, more likely than you think

There’s a way to force software rendering of the feature levels your card doesn’t support, but it’s been a long time since I did it with destiny 2

Teslas that start with a K(epler) will unlikely be able to play without hackery or at all

Bought a k40m 3 months ago, finally got it working today.
Set up on Asus x570 Prime Corporate Stable Model with a 5600g after following original guide and modifying some additional bios settings.
Long running issue seems to have been power delivery - first tried using a pcie cable re-pinned to a EPS12v Male connector after finding the pin assignment in K40 manual, which resulted in the system booting, but reporting errors in device manager. Ordered a legitimate EPS male to pcie male cable, system wouldn’t even boot with that. Finally plugged in a regular pcie power cable against earlier advice and it’s suddenly working normally.

Score of 1934 in Unigine Heaven 4.0. Decent improvement from an R9 270X

Wouldn’t recommend this cooler modification due to the sheer amount of deburring required and the risk of having small bits of aluminum polluting your system and causing shorts.

Anybody else had any luck with regular pci-e power? Anybody have a clue why a legit EPS-PCIE cable wouldn’t function? Will double-check the pin layout to see if it’s correct.

This shows how I deal with the black screen problem a few people have mentioned. Might not help, but maybe. Just threw it at the end of my cooler video. Link should take you straight to that part.

Got steam in home streaming working without a second GPU, 1080p. Video soon.

From what I’m gathering here, a lot of our problems is from lingering support of 32 bit OSes by default in system firmware (BIOS/UEFI), instead of embracing 64 bit out-of-box and having options to toggle on support for old bullshit. It really seems like resizable BAR and SAM started way back and only recently went mainstream.

Yeah, backwards compatibility fuckery; that’s our problem.

Looks like it doesn’t mean “more than 4 GB”, but instead it specifies whether to start in the legacy space that was limited to 4GB total and just ends when it runs into space that’s (because of legacy compatibillity) dedicated to somthing else… OR, put it outside or “above” the 32 bit 4GB address space, AKA "just throw it up top above everything else that could interfere.

Hey folks, does anyone know how to create a script to automatically bump up your K40 clock speed as per OP’s instructions? I’m not too experienced with scripting and automating stuff on computers, so what advice would ya’ll give me?

Pretty sure it’s as simple as making a text file with those commands in it, then renaming it to a .BAT file that you set to run at startup with task scheduler. If it’s not that simple, it’s close.

Hmm. The whole instalation process was successful, however I can’t find the registry entry Adapter type

Ok so, the Adapter Type entry is under the 0002 tab and not the 0001 tab. In case anyone has troubles with it in the future.

Everything seems to be working normally, time to overclock it.

hi,how do you do ?

but i found change EnableMsHybrid value to 2 ,it display on menu, but if it is 1 ,it not display on menu ,if it show on menu , it is not “High performance”.

Why ? how to change it to High performance ?

You can try swapping slots it’s in, other than that you need the beta build of windows 11 which will let you outright choose which GPU

Works great playing DOOM Eternal! Getting 90fps at 1080p ultra nightmare quality. Even got it working at 120hz.

Basically, you don’t. The AMD drivers cuck you out of that. You may have luck with the windows dev build; I tried it and didn’t get the extra option and just got windows 11 instead for some reason.
You can also try

And if remote play through Steam is acceptable, the virtual USB setup mentioned below seems to have great compatibillity. Used it to get Arkham Asylum running when it otherwise just wouldn’t. SOME physical USB display dongles might work; I bought one recently that seems to be shit… and I can’t test it with the Tesla M40 because it seems to have died with the rest of my PC when I let 12 volts short to USB power and/or data while messing with a Kinect V2.

Fortnite DX12 seems to do good too, if you’re into that. No selecting which GPU or disabling anything in device manager; it “just works”.

i have a HD6790, it in fifth PCIE slots , The M40 in first slots , because the hd6790 back panel is obstructed , so i swapping slots hd6790 in fifth PCIE , Can i try Hd6790 in first , M40 in after hd6790 ?
