Both.
I know its sorta overkill for now but I'm sure when I get the 3 Surround monitors its going to be well worth it.

Hmm well you could go with AMD and it'll be fine and cheaper, but it is cheaper is performance too. If I was in your position I would get a good motherboard and an i5, either way (AMD or intel) it will cost you more than $300 to get the job done properly, mainly because of the 3 lanes part for the motherboards, it will be more like $375-$425. Unless you grab that bundle you listed earlier, it looks quite good, also get the Corsair RM850, or RM750, they'll both be fine and are very good.
At $330, I would do something like this:

I really hope you know that that triple crossfire is mostly pointless except for video rendering.. It is best to get 2 stronger GPU's with more VRAM... If you dont already have the GPU's anyway.. if you are upgrading and got them cheap, then thats perfect. Otherwise, this would be way better

**an SLI/crossfire card can only use as much ram as ther first card. So a tri-crossfire would be able to use 3gb of ram, where this dual SLI setup would be 4gb of vram, a bit cheaper if buying new, and provide more power since most almost all games scale REALLY badly past the 2nd added GPU.
***If you can get $350, then you can get the i5-4690k series and overclock it... That would be a huge bonus on this system...
When I had 2 in Crossfire the cards ran everything perfect and Its something I always wanted and I Understand you guys are saying it isn't worth it but for me it is.
I got a great deal on the third card. I only paid $110 for it.
The cards are Sapphire Reference 7950 3Gb each.
I think it would be smart for me to save up a little more and then get the cpu.
I need to sell of my power supply first so I can get a better one.
I think your plan is coming together ... good luck and post some picts of the beast when you get up and running
Thanks!
I will post updates on the build when I start getting stuff in!
So I just want to update everyone.
I went with the AMD FX 8350 for my 3-way crossfire 7950 setup.
I also got a new power supply , Lepa G1600 from the guys at Enermax.
Still waiting for some parts before I can test but I just wanted to let everyone know!
Thoughts ?
Just wondering, what motherboard?
Pretty good power supply, and now overkill for this build. Feel free to overclock. In fact, I'd recommend that you overclock your FX-8350 if your motherboard can handle it.
Looks good so far.
I got a great deal at frys and I couldn't pass it up.
Got the Cpu for $159 and motherboard $160 with price match.
The motherboard is a MSI 990FXA-GD80V2
Pretty nice motherboard. It'll handle overclocking quite well.
I think the FX-8350's regular price is $169 now. Still, not a bad deal.
Frys had it for $179 when I went.
Also picked up the Coolermaster Hyper X6 Elite , Hopefully it can handle the 8350 OC
It looks like a decently sized cooler. I wouldn't expect any super high overclocks, though. It also seems to be out of stock or discontinued. Probably replaced by the Hyper 212s.
The build will definitely work. I would have gone, with an i5-4690k for better performance and less power, but I think you will be happy with this regardless. You have a very strong AMD theme going now. The 8350 should push the 3 cards without problems.
To be 100% honest I wanted to go Intel.
They offered me the i5-4690K for $199 but I had to have a specific motherboard in order to fit the cards correctly in my case and they had a few boards but they where expensive and I couldn't afford it.
I got it for $30 and I thought it was interesting cooler.
The honeycomb design was interesting and it has an angled mounted design when its installed. I never seen any cooler like it before.
But hopefully it performs as good as it looks.
It looks really good man. And the motherboard problem I can completely understand. You don't want to push your luck with tri-GPU configuration and overclocking. Post the complete build and some benchmarks when you can.
Thanks and I will post updates!
Good thing is that I picked up a new power supply as well.
Lepa G1600-MA by the guys from Enermax.
So I can have a good overclock on the system.
Here's another update!
Cpu Cooler installed and bottom fan installed!
The power supply is coming in tomorrow and so Is the rear fan.
i use an Enermax psu with Sifra board inside my self, and till now it never failled on me, its realy quiet, and its damm heavy lol. It realy doesn´t feel cheap to me.
it also wasnt cheap lol ☺
Build looks realy nice
