Battlefield 3
- Open multiplayer beta in September.
- The full game will be released October 25th, 2011
- One multiplayer map has been briefly shown: "Operation Metro", which takes place in central Paris, France. It is an "Infantry-focused" map, meaning non-vehicle focused (though Bradley tanks are seen in the trailer). I imagine this map will be in line with Laguna Alta from Bad Company 2, but larger and with multiple layers.
- Hand-to-hand knife battles seen in the campaign trailers will be somewhat present in multiplayer, but I imagine them being very brief to avoid being locked into a canned animation.
- Free online service called Battle Log, similar to Call of Duty: Elite
MS's presentation was far from amazing but OK in my book. Sony's was better (nice price for the [s]NGP[/s] Vita) with Unchharted 3 and Resistance 3 looking fine. And if Nintendo lives up to the hype with Project Cafe they should have the best presentation out of the 3. I just hope they have more than 1GB of ram on that thing. That's the only leaked spec that I don't feel ok with.
And Battlefield 3 is already pre-ordered on Amazon for PC. Am I the only one that thinks Sony's exclusivity of 1943, although nice, is kinda weak?
Nintendo has announced the controller for their newest console, Wii U. The controller has a rather large touch screen that can be used as a tablet. It can act as a additional screen while you play games on your standard TV (e.g. a separate screen for your inventory), be used for different kinds of gameplay mechanics, or act as the main screen if someone wants to watch [s]porn[/s] a movie on your TV. I would have to see some more appealing games before I'd jump on board, but I'm very interested in it.
I'd like to know if I'm the only one that thinks Nintendo is losing their touch.
Nintendo's been losing their touch since the gamecube came out.
I am really excited for Halo Anniversary though. I've always been a Halo fanboy. It's probably the only game I'll actually play on a console besides racing games. I'm interested to see what they're going to do with Halo 4 too.

I know what you mean, like they're innovating for the sake of innovation. It's up to Nintendo to prove that this thing can actually be really fun. But nobody expects anyone else but Nintendo to push the boundaries of gaming, so I think some times we just use different measures for all three companies. I know if Nintendo makes it big with these things once again the other two companies will emulate them, once again. But I like the idea of playing the game on the controller as my mother and I are constantly competing for the PC and the TV. And some times I'd rather be using the other one. And the third party support seems good this time around.

The Xbox 360 graphics look quite impressive, so I can't imagine how beautiful the PC version will look.
I played the first Oblivion for over 600 hours, then played it more with Mods, so I'd say for a hardcore TES fan this will have far more than 300 hours.
The wii is a bit better, I think Kinect is dumb though
I've never really been impressed with the whole motion capture/blaster remotes. I mean, it's kind of cool that they're coming up with technology like that, but I can't really see it becoming mainstream in the gaming scene until it is advanced much much more. I'd personally like to see virtual reality come to fruition one day. It'd be a lot of fun, and would also be an excuse for me to exercise more, lol.
I think the U is going to be a runaway success. You have to remember that nintendo isnt going after the hardcore gamer. The reviews ive read from people go when hands on with the system have said its imersive. Using a controller to catch a baseball or mounted to an acessory to act as a gun scope seems like fun game play to me. The graphics are on par with the ps3 and may still get a performance bump. As long as nintendo makes inovative peripherals they will be successful. As soon as the pc gaming industry rolls out similar tech nintendo will fade away.
- Capitan / Counciler / Admiral David Anderson will at least be a temporary squad member. [1] All previous squad members will be back and play some role or another in the game if they survived
- Female Krogan in the game
- System Requirements will be similar to ME2 [1]
- The game will have a inventory, similar but not exactly like the one seen in ME1. Weapon workbenches around levels where players can modify their weapons; armor mods will be in the game too [1]
- Much more complex skill-system, more akin to ME1. In addition to purchasing ranks (adding points) for skills, players will be able to choose how they want their character to hone that skill [1]
- Grenades have returned, but actually bounce around like standard grenades seen in other games; not stick to surfaces or enemies a-la ME1 [1]
- Improved cover system that allows players to be stealthy
- New melee weapon: "Omni-blade" which also allows for stealth kills
- Giant Cerberus mech called the "Atlas" that players can take control of [1]
- Multiple places and missions on some planets instead of just one per planet. [1]
- Will have Kinect-exclusive voice-recognition features to give squad-mates commands and choose dialog options.
Absolutely cannot wait! While the graphics aren't as big a leap as ME2 was to ME1, the game looks great and the audio is superb. This is my most-looked-forward-to game of 2012. Being a huge fan of the first two, it's extremely exciting to see they really seem to be putting the best of both of them together, instead of dumbing down the RPG elements further. On the Kinect stuff, honestly, I didn't find it very impressive. Although personally I like the idea of Kinect, I still can't find a single reason why I would want one.

And I'm glad they decided to expand gaming in a different way. If Nintendo puts a 12-core processor with 8GB of Ram and a Radeon HD6970 equivalent in there you can bet many people wouldn't be willing to pay the price. Just look at how good the PS3 was doing before the slim and the price reduction. And I would rather spend that kind of money on a PC anyways. My 4890 is running Crysis 2 like nobody's business at maximum settings and the Wii U's GPU is supposedly based on an improved/customized version of that gpu so if this machine can run games on actual 1080, then I'm fine. And I can't get too excited over graphics anymore.
