It would be a good chance to compare. I’d be interested to hear what you think.

I just got everything in today and hooked it all up. It sounds amazing. It sounds very clear. The bass is insane. I should have gotten the 10" instead. The 12" is too much for my needs lol. I am pretty happy with this setup as is. $500 all in seems to be not too bad for entry level hifi system.

Now to find a hifi streaming service. Seems like amazon music unlimited is the best cheapest option. I think Tidal is a too expensive. I am an android user as well so apple music eh.

Could rip all your cd’s to the highest bit quality you can and then create your own private music streaming server.

Plex / emby on a nas / raspberry pi.

And go thru thrift stores / yard sales for loads of cheap cd’s to add to your collection.

I do have plex for my movies and tv shows.

I would do that, but that is a lot of work and would be hard to find some music. Streaming is probably best bet. That way I can access anything I can think of at any moment.

Yea it’s a lot of work up front and not all the music you want will be available, but no ads / all the free skips you want / no company telling me what music is or is not available to me this month / and the biggest thing in my opinion is no monthly fee!!!

Completely agree and would prefer this, but I am not going to hunt down all the music I want. It is just too much and it would be almost as much. If I did I would most likely would hunt them down online. Also if friends or family want to listen to something they want and I do not have it. The streaming just makes it so much easier and more accessible.

This. You dont have to start expensive. Audiophile stuff is a bottomless pit kind of trap with pretty much no ceiling (price-wise). Best to stay grounded and within reason. I also have an Edifier that is powered and connected to a toslink cable. It is more than adequate, especially for your genre of choice.

The whole point of the “audiophile” experience is too recreate the whole music as if the performer is in front of you. If you cant tell the difference, do not, I repeat DO NOT OVERSPEND!

There is a lot of pretentious, needlessly expensive stuff in the audiophile world and a lot is mostly marketing and “flowery words” BS. ALWAYS audition the stuff. If it cheap and sounds good enough, because it is. Consumer psychology plays in a significant role for some reason.

I only advise you proceed forward from the Edifier if you can actually tell the difference in a blind A/B test. Past a certain budget setup, most people cant tell the difference, even audiophile/some audio engineers cannot even agree what is superior in an A/B test.

For me, Edifier is that kind of setup and people hate on it because it is cheap enough and good enough for the vast majority of people.

EDIT: lol I saw your display monitors, hot dang! You actually need a proper listening room, past a certain budget. More expensive stuff will not sound as nice in a small room with lots of stuff. Then comes the wall treatment… And so on… Like I said, a hobby with no price ceiling!

The better quality studio gear works great in the save-money-and-sanity-department.
An SSL2+, Audient id14 or Yamaha AG03 will make for a good central audio-thing on a desk. Gives you all the inputs and outputs you will probably ever need.

Big point, right there: Audio is subjective.

And yes, I also agree on the overspending thing. There are big quality differences between something that costs a few bucks and something that costs a few hundred. There is very little difference between something for a few hundred bucks and something for literally infinite money.

I am a type of person who tries to do it “right” the first time and not have to go back and replace or fix things. If that makes any sense. For example I like buying the best tv or pc components possible so it wont break and it will be good for a very long time until I WANT to replace it. I want to buy quality the first time and be done with it. I want it to last a very long time and it still be good. That is why I was willing to spend more and did not want to compromise. But, I also did not want to spend a crap ton. I wanted a good entry/mid level that would accomplish all of that on the first try.

The mousepad positioning is trigering me hard. Please center it! lol  It is actually a good position, mouse-wise.

ya it is going to stay in the position because I need it for gaming/ for the mouse. My old mouse would satisfy you because it was only to the right of the keyboard only for the mouse. This one is much longer.

One last thing, perhaps elevate the speaker to your ear level? You can be creative or as jank with that one and the more premium-y stand has some sort of layer of foam/s in them just under the speaker, presumably to absorb extra vibration or something.

You might also want to consider a TKL sized keyboard if you use this just for gaming to reclaim the mouse space or if you also use your pc for work, a separate keypad or a fancier “southpaw” keyboard (with a left sided numpad).

I will look into stands. As for the keyboard. I will build one in the future that is a smaller size. This keyboard works great and I love the extras on it. Building a keyboard is expensive.

Tell me about it. I’ve been dreaming of ergo keyboards for some time now. The problem is, switching from work to play will be weird.

Those speakers look nice. I am happy that you like them. Good audio brings a lot of joy.
