i missed the specifics. do both CCDs get x3d cache this time? or are we still going to have weirdness when crosssing between CCDs.

did not clarify

Since they didn’t explicitly talk about, having each die handling L3, I’m treating it as 1CCD gets it

I fear you may be correct. I might still grab one, simply because the 9000 series is much more power efficient than the 7000 series Im running. but the price and performance would need to be just right to justify it.

AMD did not announce any new GPU’s

went back to watch the intel keynote. and while intel also didnt announce any gpus.

they did announce their impending gpu announcement. kinda wish they had just saved us all the time and told us already.

That’s pretty much been all I’ve read on it being the case. I guess may not be officially confirmed yet but it seems certain.

Looked through ASRock and MSI’s ATX B850s. Mostly nothing new, no surprise there, but a few few notes anyhow.

  • All dual CPU M.2. Often the second M.2 is behind PCIe slot 3, making it heatsink incompatible with a dGPU. Manuals aren’t posted yet but this looks to include the Tomahawk and Edge’s second 5.0 x4, so maybe a thermal fail there.
  • ASRock’s press release mentions a bottom side 5.0 x4 heatsink but doesn’t quantify a temperature reduction or indicate if it works with double sided drives.
  • Steel Legend, LiveMixer, Riptide, Gaming Edge, and B650-P put the second CPU M.2 behind PCIe slot 5, suggesting a three slot dGPU should clear the NGFF heatsink.
  • Everything’s an x16 mechanical slot. But MSI continues to put 8-pin PCIe power at the bottom of their boards where it’s easy for it to block a second dGPU.
  • Pretty much all 4.0 dual chipset M.2s. Mostly both x4 but MSI’s lower end’s x4+x2.
  • Pretty much all four SATA ports and mostly 20 Gb front USB. ASRock uses ASM1601s to get one or two rear 20 Gb USB on some boards.
  • MSI’s all 5 GbE and 802.11be. ASRock’s 2.5 GbE with 802.11be higher end and 11axe lower.

Probably get to the B860s tomorrow.

Another W880 motherboard

Expansion Slots
PCIe 4.0 x4,
2 PCIe 5.0 x16 (support up to 16/NA or 8/8; slot 3 support bifurcation x4x4
M.2 1 PCIe 5.0 x4, + 1 PCIe 4.0 x4

Also it looks like there’s a Slimsas 8i slot on the bottom left

Imo not as impressive as the asrock rack one but still an option

Hopefully ASUS and Gigabyte release motherboards too

The ASUS should be named
PRO WS W880-ACE PRO
WS W880-ACE IPMI PRO
WS W880M-ACE SE

Gigabyte might be named (just a guess based on W680 motherboard)
MW35-SP0

I’m really interested in that project DIGITS thingie from Nvidia. I hope it goes for $2k or less (even though I doubt it will happen).

It’s so smol, cute and powerful.

EDIT:

$3k, which means I won’t be getting one, bummer.
Still a reasonable price given that it’s cheaper than an Apple equivalent.

Fun theory time

Based on rumors/leaks AMDs 9070 XT was supposed to be a 4080 (non super) performer but at 70 class pricing so 500-600$.

But they got access to Nvidia slides and saw that they’re releasing a 5070 at 550$ in which Nvidia says has the performance of a 4090, and so it messed up AMDs plans significantly lmao, and they choose not to announce it with pricing.

I think they was expecting Nvidia to be greedy with pricing or the 5070 to not be comparable to a 4090, and so i wonder if AMD will go even lower than 500$? And if RDNA 4 is as good as DLSS 4 in terms of the frame gen

they can do all the “AI” stuff they want, but TV os’s are still really poorly optimized, laggy and unnecessarily janky things
