Asus X99-e 30 seconds to post

I just built my new computer and it takes about 30 seconds to show the post screen. Up until then it says not connected to a source. After it posts it runs without problems. I am wondering if I should ask for a replacement or return it and get a new motherboard. The x99-e has no reviews. So far I am the only one who reviewed it. I bought a two year warranty on it, so I could return it any time within the next two years.

Its post that takes the time. Like its a black screen saying disconnected device or whatever. After post its 5 seconds ish. I am gonna try updating the bios to see what happens.

you could try to flash the bios firstly.

Just flashed the bios and still takes some time from showing no devices connected to showing post. I am guessing its a faulty motherboard or a motherboard line with a flaw. I dont know if anyone has really bought this because as I mentioned there is no review out except for mine.

I think that 30 seconds is a bit long.
i have a couple of basic questions.

  • is date and time setted correctly in the bios?
  • Do you have multiple storage devices connected?
  • do you have any other usb devices connected other then usb keyboard and mouse?
  • How much ram do you have installed? and what configuration?
  • Any overclocking done on memory or cpu?

I checked the bios clock looks correct. All I have is a SSD and a hdd. Also have a wireless keyboard and a wired mouse. Overclocked to 3.6ghz with intel turbo boost. Not sure what configuration my memory is in. How do I tell?

i mean how manny memory sticks do you use?
And have you done any overclocking on it?

About your current overclock on the cpu.
If you set everything to factory defaults, so no overclocking at all.
Does it still takes 30 seconds before post screen appears?

Next to that, couple of other tests to try.

Disconnect the HDD, and use only the SSD.
Try if it still takes 30 seconds to post.
If so, then do the opposite, disconnect the SSD and connect the HDD and test again.
If still no diffrence, then its most likely not the sata devices.

Then disconnect the wireless keyboard and test again.
If you have a wired ps2 or usb keyboard please try it.

You can also try to enable fast boot or ultra fast boot, not sure if that is an option on Asus motherboards but on my AsRock board I have those options to speed things up a really good bit.

I tried all your suggestions. Could it be the video card? I am using a cheap one that doesnt draw power from the psie psu connectors. It is a 10 dollar card. Also could it be the power supply?

Disable "Full Screen Logo" in the UEFI under Boot. Maybe that will help to see what is going on.

I'll do that, also my friend suggested memtest64. Also he suggested testing a different video card. I have a few options to complete so Ill look it all through.

No luck yet. I am guessing its the motherboard or powersupply.

Its very unlikely its the power supply, I would suspect that something plugged into the motherboard is not happy. What video card is it exactly?

Its a gt 610. But I also tried my 280x.

What cpu is it? I feel the need to ask as if you are using one of those ES Cpu's that have become very popular lately, that could be the source of your frustrations.

Unplug all USB devices and see what the boot times are like that. It could be that an older USB device doesn't support proper UEFI. I have this issue actually with an older Corsair K70 that is weird with my Z97 board.
