Do you want PCIe lanes or just the long plastic slots and x1 lane is fine?
Because two x8 AND a x16 isn’t possible without going Threadripper/EPYC/Xeon. Ryzen/Core only have 28 lanes in total and some are needed for M.2 as well. That’s why you usually have 1x x16 and maybe a x4 and a third slot with x1 or x4 running off the chipset and not CPU (which all might have a long x16-style plastic mounting for compatibility)
But your current X570 does not support what you’re asking for.
The topmost slots do support running at x8/x8, or just x16 with the second one disabled.
The last slot is attached to the chipset and has a max of 4 lanes.
You won’t be findind what you’re asking for in ANY consumer setup (be either AMD or Intel) due to the amount of lanes available.
There’s only so many lanes available for x570 to use. So what they’ve cleverly done on this board is offer more PCIe slots with reduced bandwidth across them. Not a bad compromise and I like it. In general I avoided most of the x570 boards due to the active cooling fan on the chipset but this board does seem to have the most ideal PCIe slot configuration.
Yeah that x570 board you have doens’t appear to have support for x16 x8, sadly. I wish it could, that would be amazing. I have been looking for something like you’re talking about for a while, and others have too. I haven’t found anything of the sort out there, sadly. Here is another post with a search extremely similar to yours: AM5 Motherboard with no Gen 5 M.2
It could be done with x16 and x8, but in that case you must sacrifice any nvme drives to the chipset.
Wow, where have I been, selection and choice seems to be far and few between any offerings. WiFi on everything? Waste in my case, anyways…
I went with an Asrock B650M-HDV/M.2 since it offered what I need for the time being until I can get around to selling a kidney and going for a new Threadripper, again, even the AM5 EPYC didn’t cut the mustard.
I’m not stuck on AMD just had parts laying around I wanted to use.
Actually Hardcore Overclocking has some interesting overviews of the Asrock board, once I get it all put together and tested I’ll post back my findings and config.
Watched a review on this mobo ASRock Rack X570D4U-2L2T Socket AM4/ AMD X570/ DDR4/ SATA3&USB 3.2/ Micro-ATX Server Motherboard. Seems exactly what I need.
Unlike the X570, which repurposes parts of the Matisse IO die, Promontory 21 seems to lack an x8 PHY. So probably not happening in AM5. Possibly with AM6.
