I can't answer that lol :). All I can think of is that you were running small ftts and Linux is extraordinarily more light on resources.

make sure to install the amd microcode. It helps the kernel understand your CPU. just open Synaptic Package Manager (sudo apt-get install synaptic -y
if it is not installed) and search for amd or microcode. You should find the amd one. There are also some cpu tools in Linux that let you set the cpu speed from n option list.
