Hi, recently I bought external USB storage chassis and it doesn’t seem to work properly with AMD USB controllers in my WRX80 based workstation. My friend used to have similar issues in Zen 3 based laptop with his m.2 case. As a workaround I purchased external ASM3142 based card. However now since I already have that card I somewhat wonder if it’d be good idea to reconnect PC case front panel ports to that card as well and avoid using Zen 3 USB controller entirely?
Typically I would decide it’s probably good call to use dedicated card but on the other hand I’m not an expert, I don’t know if ASM3142 is any good chip and card that I bought is pretty “Chinese” so common sense would suggest that USB controller used in Threadripper PRO 5000 and WRX80 based motherboard for over 1k usd is better than 20$ card from aliexpress… But considering how troublesome Zen 3 USB controllers seem to be I’m kinda puzzled :T
