[YT] How far can I broadcast LoRa packets WITHOUT a radio?

Just a random video that was suggested to me today:

TL;DW: The guy was able to send a valid LoRa packages over 2500 m without a LoRa radio just by “sort of bit banging” and using harmonics on a ESP32 with a dupont wire dipole antenna.

I found it amazing and terrifying, that he also got around 200 m with a funtenna. The same goes for the 750m with the CH32V203, I mean that is the kind of microcontroller you find in lots of peripherals.

All his work is open source and in this repo:

cnlohr is an absolute legend and a madman

Reverse engineering the entire HTC Vive tracking system? Sure!

Bitbanging USB and Ethernet for microcontrollers? You got it!

Analog NTSC video directly from an ESP8266? That’s just too easy

Everything written in pure c99 of course lol

And now this??

I’m in awe every time he uploads

Yes another way to remote in to my CCTV from a distance!

…oh the frequencies are banned lol nvm. It would be useful for out in the middle of nowhere maybe though! You could do so much
