Your experiences with cheap Intel 10GB NICs? (From China)

So yeah what are your experiences with these?
Like these here.

I have yet to buy one or more so I’m kinda looking for some ppl who already bought some, maybe some recommendations like “buy from this seller” and the like.
Is that more of a draw luck thing or does every NIC work but has some kinks?

I have a few of those from China/HK

X540-T2 and they work fine (win10 and 2012r2)

They do run hot so make sure your case cooling is good

Been using them for approx a year

Any seller you could/would recommend?
Do they run hot under load or in an idle state? Ever measured how hot?

Got mine off ebay - went with cheapest(with a high customer rating) - took a couple of weeks to arrive in the UK - free post IIRC

hot as in hot to the touch when under load. I move a lot of data around daily and have had no issues with them - and with windows SMB Multipath they work well

as i have good cooling i do not see any throttling etc but they are “warm” (say 40c) when i have shut down pc to move them when testing.

I think the only thing to be aware of is knockoff versions that aren’t from OEM’s like HP and Dell and such. I’ve heard people say no home dies in months

We use the X540-T2’s in our datacenter. They’re very reliable. Across about 50 nodes, we haven’t had a single failure in 3ish years.

Do you use the original from Intel or the cheap ones from China?

Oh, these are Intel.

Why do these chinese companies decide to name them the same as the original? That annoys me to no end.
