thats great looking forward to see pics.
Good luck building ☺

sure i can do that. i probably post them here and post some of my rig aswell.
i bought the h87 performance for 70 euros:) but now i saw some people saying intel will block the bios with non-z oc mode. what to do now? i hope i get the good bios! do you know more about this? or someone else?
do you know if i can oc by changing the multiplayer? i saw some vids that it's just 4ghz 4.2ghz 4.4ghz 4.6ghz and 4.8ghz. can i adjust the voltage myself? i don't think you know this but maybe.
if you went for a K cpu, then like i said it was better to go with a Z87 board. because the Z87 board, is the fully unlocked chipset for overclocking.
However, i know that on most Asus H87 chipsetboards, you also able to overclock with the multiplier setting, so probably on the Asrock H87 performance you will also be able to do that.
thanx! we will see if it's possible. if not i hope i can return it and buy an other mobo.
i found this very interessting artikle, i think this will help you with overclocking.
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/h87-express-overclocking-bug,23273.html
In this artikle they talk about the NON Z overclock option on the Asrock H87 performance. Seems that intel just forgotten to disable that. and you be able to overclocking, during this feuture.
Let me know if this is working, because this could make alot sense. Because is looks like a sort of basic overclock profile programed in the bios, like msi´s OC genie, and asus auto OC option.
awesome! i probably won't oc the cpu but i like to have it as an option. i don't really know if intel can see if you oc the cpu. you can see if you put 3V on it but a small increase?
there are some changes in the build btw, it's now this
pc 1
i5 750
foxcon h57
gt220
xfx 550
3x2gb ram
840 evo 120gb
1tb wd caviar black
fractal r4
pc 2
i5 4670k
212 evo
h87 AsRock performance
2x4gb Crucial Ballistix Tactical ram
xfx 550
840 evo 120gb
1tb wd caviar black
fractal r4
for building the system he gave me the h87 board and the i7 which is freaking amazing:). i lose my lovely i5 750 but i think it's worth it:) the i5 750 will do just fine for the tasks that the pc needs to.
my build:
i7 4770k
Noctua NH-D14
h87 AsRock Performance
2x4gb crucial ballistix tactical
R9 270 msi
cx 500
840 250gb ssd
1tb wd blue
1tb seagate barracuda
fractal r4 (window)
noctua 140 PWM x4
i think it's gonna be awesome!
problem! i bought the xfx 550 intead of an cx430 cuz of the 5 year warranty, but haswell has a weird thing with power so the xfx 550 doesn't supports haswell cpu's. what to do now?
just disable C6 and C7 powerstates in the bios and you will be absolutly fine with the XFX 550 pro and hasswell. its just hasswell low power feutures in sleep mode.. you can just disable that.
BUT honnestly i dont see any reason why a decent psu could not handle low loads of power on CX sleep states... i think its just more an intel marketing bullshit hype.. ☺
thanx!
pictures comming soon:) i got a really really bad i7 4770k and after some calls and emailing intel i got a new one:) the first one was 1.2Vcore @3500mhz, under 1.2Vcore it didn't work:(. new one is 1.2Vcore stable @4.5ghz :).
Hey thats great news, you overclocked with the tip i gave to you? the non Z overclock Feuture? if so.. how well did it work? Because it could be a very interessting thing.
And offcourse i like to see pictures. ☺
i just changed the ratio to 45 and the Vcore to 1.2. and i set my ram to 1600mhz 8-8-8-24. the rest is default settings. i can go further but i don't need it and i'm scared to go over 1.2V on air. hitting 74C with the nh-D14 with no fans AIDA64 stress test.
That are great temps for an hasswell cpu.
Honnestly 4.5 ghz is the sweet spot for hasswell cpu´s anyway, going higher will only make it throttle, and the performance gain isn´t realy noticable, beyond 4.5ghz.
im freaking suppriced that you reached it so easaly on a H87 board.
i can boot in windows on 4.8ghz with 1.3Vcore but after 20min aida64 bluescreen.
still funny how i clocked it to 4.5ghz. everything on auto except the Vcore and the ratio.
here are the pictures. http://s273.photobucket.com/user/guest372620583/media/weerweggooien1268_zpsd1204182.jpg.html?filters[user]=139311007&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=0
i got a question about my mobo. how many Noctua d14 PWM fans can i plug into 1 fan header? i now have 2x3pin to 3pin cpu header, 2x4pin to 4pin cpu header and 2x4pin to chasis fan header. is that oke?
Build looks great.
How manny cpu fan headers does je motherboard have? i dont know that out of my head..
But your noctua has 2 fans, you probably have those connected with the splitter, to tho the cpu fan header. some mobo´s have more then 1 cpu fan header, so you could add a third fan on your noctua.
it has 2 cpu fan headers, 1 3pin and 1 4pin.
it has 3 cha fan headers but i can only change the fan speed on 2.
and there is a psu fan header but i'm not gonna use that.
normally i use a fan controller but it died allready:(
i have splitters. i use 2 fans on each fan header but i don't know if it's good cuz i don't wanna damage my motherboard.
thats one of the reasons why i personaly gonne buy a NZXT phantom 530 case, because this case comes with a fan controller and Fan hun, to connect 10 case fans on it, with a molex power connector to power it.
both the fans of the noctua cpu cooler you should connect those with a splitter on the 4 pin cpu header, to have pwm. The chasis fan headers, i think it would be better to connect just one case fan to each header, because, if you connect 2 fans to each chasis fan header, the motherboard needs to put twice as much current trough those fan headers, to power both fans, the fan header wil get alot hotter then normal so... i would not advice it.
