X99s SLI PLUS freckles

Hey

Just received the X99s SLI PLUS , and was horrified :

It's covered in freckles ...

I'm trying to RMA to the seller , but I don't want to have wasted 45€ on shipping ..

And they seem to be refusing RMA , saying it's "normal" and "It works"

Does anybody know of a place where I can email MSI ?

They want me to go through registration and a massive survey just to email them ...

BTW my 5820k and ram are only arriving on the 27th , so I can't test it ...

What are those 'freckles' anyways?

I'l be getting a better pick , but essentially there are streaks and spots all over the motherboard ...

I found a video about it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CXb6J4fZ50

It isn't exactly like that though :/

Bummer on a fucking 250€ motherboard.

Looking at it under sunlight , it looks like a 10 year old's face lol

RMA has been refused by the seller :/

Msi X99 boards are crap realy. But yeah that is what you get, wenn you skimp on the vreg design on a high powered platform, There are allot of complains about them, They even burned out. Msi still haven´t learned from theire AM3+ fiasco. Also the bios is a pain in the ass. I hope for Msi that the X power and Gaming 9 are better, then their other boards.

Gigabyte boards have bios issues, i hope they finaly released a bios that does not crash?

Asus Boards, are decent, i dont read much issues about then, only a few DOA´s, but that does not tell anything about the quality of the board.

Asrock boards, seems to be okay aswell, dont read much issues about them.

So for X99 my personal opinnion Asus or Asrock.

Yeah probably will try getting a X99-A , but I have this board , and I don't want to fork another 250€ out .

I'l see if MSI can replace it , otherwise I'l just do a review and tear the seller / board to pieces .

I wish there where more reviews , and the reviews online don't talk about this ...

The seller, should atleast give you a refund, since you boaght the board new, they should give you the money back, you should not have to deal with RMA´s, but simply should be able to get a new board.

I would just call the seller, send the pictures of the mobo, and then ask if you can get a new board from a diffrent brand, if you pay the diffrence.

But yeah as long as msi does not respond to this, with new revisions of their boards, then i would say, stay the hell away.

Ok , they are proposing the X99S gaming 7 , but they want me to pay return shipping ( 25€ ) , the difference ( 22€ ) , and shipping back to me ( another 25€ ) , and this is just too mutch , if I go by MSI , hopefully I can get a new board for only the price of shipping it to them ( netherlands ) and that should be 16€ vs the 72€ that I'm being proposed .

What? thats rediculous, They sold a faulty product, and should pay your shipping.

Where did you boaght this?

Sadly , and online ebay store a friend recommended , he had ordered stuff from there and was good .

It was new though , so I'l try talking to the guy .

But other shops do it also , topachat and ldlc ( they only payed the rma the first time , the second they made me pay ) .

I am in work at the moment so I cannot view the picture or the video.

Does this actually stop the board from working? Or is it just a cosmetic thing?

I have no 5820k yet , but it *looks* cosmetic .

I'm going to take a proper picture .

This is what it should look like , h97 asus : http://imgur.com/4kcdNLK

And the X99s : http://imgur.com/gFm41hC

Well ebay is indeed a pain, But im not surpriced that more sellers do this. I would say, just contact Msi, if they offer you a refund then take that, if they offer you a new board, then you could take that, and then try to sell it new.

Then you can buy an Asus X99-A. or if you like Asus X99-S.

But please buy it by a decent seller, like Alternate, Azerty, Afuture, and what not. These are a few good Dutch sellers.

Well the point was to do this as cheap as possible , and with the rebates I get , I got the 5820k + 16gb for ~450€ .

I was trying to keep it under 700€ total :/

I'l to get him to pay for transport .

Good, then just ask what he has to offer. You cannot blame the seller for a bad msi board offcourse, but he atleast should meet you in the middle.

€50,- shipping cost is offcourse rediculous.

wow, that's weird, if you went though ebay, you may have went through paypal and that's a good way to get your money back.

Still can't get shipping back ;

They will make me return the product , and pay for the original shipping , and that's already 40€ lost .

That sucks.

I have to say, that im not realy famillier with shippings and what not. Because i dont like to buy my products through the internet anyway. I allways call a shop, and drive to it lol, i just wanne see what i pay for lol.

But yeah thats maybe an psychological error that i have lol. ☺
