Hello all,
I picked up an supermicro X10DAi with dual E5-2687W v4s a while ago. I picked up a 500GB Samsung SSD and an MSI A750GL power supply. I have since also added a used Quadro 4000 to it.
It seems to have an issue with booting where it will power on enough to spin fans but it does not turn on the power LED on the board. The supermicro manual calls out a beeper thats built in but I was not able to get it to beep even after removing all RAM.
I also decided to double check the Xeons and repaste them… See pictures. All looked good. While going through this I tried to boot it with just one CPU and it ‘latched’ and finally booted on the second power cycle with one CPU and its associated RAM installed.
I then finished and got it all back together and ran into the same boot issue. After about 10 mins of power cycles and watching the board, I saw that the power LED sometimes came on briefly when I hard powered off the board by throwing the PSU switch to off.
So I finally tried to throw the switch off then back on, and it seemed to catch or ‘latch’ and boot.
I would like to get this board to a more reliable state so I dont have to keep it on all the time, or if I do move more services to it I would like to be a little more sure it will boot after power cycles and not cause a headache.
Anyone ever experience this? Could it be the PSU? PSU was new, board is obviously a second hand.
