Wtf is this FPS monitor on my screen?

Admin: feel free to move this thread if it belongs elsewhere.

For a while now, I've had an FPS counter on the top right of my screen in full screen applications like games. No idea what put it there, but it's been there ever since I started looking into a FPS monitor other than the one that Afterburner has. So I tried FRAPS, and it's good. But this FPS monitor isn't FRAPS. If I load FRAPS, I'll get 2 monitors on my screen sort of overlapping each other. I left it be for months because it's actually kinda nice to have an FPS monitor auto load with every game, without having to start any program like FRAPS first. But I ran Unigine benchmark on two monitors today for the hell of it and noticed that monitor was wrong. It was combining the FPS of the two monitors. Valley said 44 FPS? Whatever monitor this is said 88. When I upgrade my GPU and actually multi monitor my games, this will be annoying. I've been looking in the task manager and can't find the process responsible for it.

Screenshots of what it looks like might help. Could be the steam overlay FPS counter?
Ahoy again, fellow space cat.

ShadowPlay?

I thought it might be Shadow Play but SP isn't even showing up in my Geforce Experience, possibly because I'm internetless until I get a job. I live in a ****hole town. Why SP would be inaccessible without internet is anyone's guess... Anyway, I can't even find the Shadow Play process or service in real manager.

And hello fellow space cat! I haven't been around because, again no internet. I'm on my phone.

EDIT: the FPS counter is light green, very straight and even font, no curves, just like the FRAPS monitor

Hmm, actually it might be Shadow Play. Looking in CCleaner showed SP was on startup, which would explain why the FPS counter is always there, if it is SP. My question is why SP is nowhere to be seen in my Geforce Experience

No SP options on the right hand side or settings page of GeForce experience? Only one explanation...

Lol pretty much. Yes, SP is just... Not there...

Uhh, Steam FPS counter? A screencap would help.

It's not Steam, it happens in non steam games (unless Steam can hijack other games). I didn't even know Steam had a FPS counter. I'd need to transfer the screenshot to my phone to upload it, I'll do that if need be. But it wouldn't tell you anything, it's as I described: looks just like the FRAPS counter, but slightly different color and location in the screen

I believe it is Shadow Play and it's just not showing up in Geforce Experience

do you use Overwolf maybe? It also has the FPS counter on by default.

just going to post big ass list of apps i know to have fps counters. having internet has nothing to do whether you have sp or not it comes in the app.

Steam overlay,
Overwolf
shadowplay
fraps
overclocking software such as evga,msi,asus

Open up task manager, look at processes/screen shot them for us

For some reason my phone won't upload the picture, so I'll just have to type these in. These are my user processes (.exe after each of course):

Agent (This is Battle.net, loaded to be sure the FPS monitor is active) as well as the actual Battle.net exe, rundll32, explorer, NvBackend, DuelMonitor, sidebar, Steam, taskeng, RAVBg64, taskhost, RAVCpl64, MSIAfterburner, dwm, conhost, GWX, nvtray, CCleaner64, wuauclt, pcee4, Core Temp, taskmgr, steamwebhelper, dllhost, AdobeARM.

That's it, everything else I shut down, and most of these processes I know have nothing to do with it. FPS monitor is showing up right now on my Blizzard applications. I seriously think it's Shadow Play gone rogue in offline mode. I'll have to see once I'm back online

Razer Cortex? Thats what I used as fps counter

how about riva tuner, with msi afterburner? :)

show ss with counter will make it much easier to identify it.

Hmm, I hadn't thought about rivatuner. But rivatuner isn't even in my processes. And I haven't uploaded a pic because I haven't been able to do it from my phone. Actually got it to work this time, but it's probably too muddy for you to see anything. Unfortunately, I can't upload from my computer bc internet is out and I can't transfer an actual screenshot and upload via phone bc of file size. I really should have just waited to make this thread, sorry guys. Maybe if I took a screenshot and cropped it... In the meantime, here's this.

Edit: I just checked for rivatuner. Didn't find it. I remember uninstalling it, I think, because I didn't like something about it and had alternatives.

It is shadowplay (green). Shadowplay requires internet access.

Ah, then my earlier guess was correct. Thanks for the confirmation, I wish I would have thought about SP going rogue without internet earlier before I made the thread. I remember playing around with SP's monitor when I got tired of rivatuner.

How does shadowplay require internet its an offline game recorder, unless you are trying to stream to twitch.

Just, don't. Nvidia are confusing at the best of times, harmful at most of times. This is just part of their horrible practice.
