WRX90 WS EVO - S3 (Sleep) mode is supported only when 1 / 2 / 4 DIMMs memory modules are installed

The manual of the WRX90 WS EVO says “S3 (Sleep) mode is supported only when 1 / 2 / 4 DIMMs memory modules are installed.” also in the specs: https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/WRX90%20WS%20EVO/index.asp#Specification
but the board takes up to 8 modules, and for best performance one would want 8 channels.

Now I wonder why would they have this limitation and would it apply to other WRX90 boards as well just that they don’t mention it?

Looks like 8 channel RDIMM-DDR5 memory use to much power during S3 to fit in ATX specifications… Some guy on Reddit told me that the BIOS of the ASUS wrx90 board warns you that the S3 may be unstable in octa channel. SUX!
@wendell can you pls test sleep mode on your board?

I see yea that is plausible, it would be great to see this tested @wendell

Sleep mode not working properly with 32gb+ dimms

Ok, not great, does hibernation work at least?
Should not be affected but I have seen server/workstation boards in the past where this just did not work.

Damn. I gonna use 32x8 myself.
