Witcher 3 Low fps why?

My friend plays Witcher 3 on Medium settings in 1080p at 50-60 FPS having an AMD FX 6350 and an GTX 960.
While I play Witcher 3 at everything turned off/low in 720p at 43-60 FPS having an i5 4460 and an GTX 760 with 3.5GB .
Uhm.. Explain?

Full specs? Any background processes running?
Have a look at CPU and GPU loads compared to idle and gaming?

No background process, which parts do you need exatly of mine/him.

Does the game have nVidia GameWorks? If yes, your 700 series card is worthless.

What do you mean? Hearing ,,nVidia GameWorks" for the first time.

Yes, it does, it's witcher 3.

Nvidia "Gameworks" is proprietary features built on games that have take advantage of Maxwell graphics cards. anything that isn't maxwell will get annihilated.. the 760 is kepler based. (so you're sort of boned) if you turn off "Hairworks" and set some of textures to medium or high. you should be able to run the game smoothly. if you don't your card will have your frame-rates cut almost in half.

I'm not sure weather Nvidia fixed this or not, but for a while now, any game running Nvidia gameworks has their 700 series or older cards being crap and their 900 series tasting like "oh so sweet" cake.

The OP has a 700 series.

i read it backwards. i corrected my comment.

I'd say everyone else covered it well enough. It is indeed due to Nvidia using gameworks to nerf pre 900 series cards and Amd cards.

this.

It actually fixed it. Won't be steady 60 FPS but that's normal at an 60 FPS lock. Thanks to all.
