Windows Update breaks Displayport MST?

Hello everyone (detailed information later) i have just witnessed the breaking of several daisy-chain DP1.2/1.4 mst setups at work and at home with the latest windows 10 and 11 updates. Both screens get recognized but only one can get display output at a time. This happened across HP Pro/Elite Series and Lenovo Think Series Clients/Monitors as well as both intel UHD/Xe Graphics and Nvidia dGPU models. Yesterday night i thought it was homelab weirdness but the next day at work several colleagues experienced the same problem.

Is anyone else seeing this and microsoft done goofed or am i overthinking?

I had to disable Microsoft driver updates… They screw up a lot. A year or so back, in order to preempt the Dog Walk Zero Day virus, they updated the BIOS on my 3990x workstation. The code pages for the different BIOS versions – no same same. So, many of the “defaults” were re-enabled. On an Asus Zenith II Extreme Alpha, that means SOC voltages which zoom up past 1.4V. Oh yeah, on the Asus MB PBO is enabled by “default” too. Certain death. Fried a 3990x in the middle of a big PostgreSQL data run. The same day, laptops would not connect to monitors via DisplayPort – same update stupidity. I had to bring some laptops back via boot disk mirrors. Other problems: Bricked boot NVMe SSDs, bricked 8TB sata SSD and RAM which “forgot” it’s DOCP info… Microsoft is a clown show when it comes to driver updates. Turn them off. Do the driver updates yourself.
