Windows Server UPNs

Hello folks,

I've been reading around Exchange and user authentication for Windows Server and found that you can change the OWA login method to User Principal Name (UPN).

I tried this, but it wouldn't log in with my email address.

I eventually tracked this down to the UPN (which allowed me to log in with [email protected]) and found some ways to fix this, but having never looked at UPN before I'm unsure what else this will effect.

If there are any Windows Server admins out there, do you know what effects changing a UPN might have?

Also, does Microsoft provide any advice for setting UPNs, similar to what they do with domain naming?

Many thanks, Fantom.
