Anywho I thought I’d try to help others get their bearings when trying to probe their personal systems to see if they can get access to the various ioPins for fans and LEDs on their motherboards. This is a rather icky way of doing things, but then again it’s Windows and I don’t think any of this will be pretty.

Give this a read through, I’ll update as I learn a more convenient way of accessing the various COM ports on windows.
Yes, the article goes through establishing a pin out for the raspberry pi but the same process can (theoretically) be used to find other ports on the machine, such as the pins for LEDs. That’s why I posted the first link, so that way others can get the list of commands needed to fish out the ports directly from the BIOS/UEFI.
Hopefully this helps but I’m not too familiar with windows as I don’t use it unless I have to.
