This has been going on for a while and I want a fix NOW! I built a gaming PC about 3 months back and love it, I installed Windows 8 but now there is a really pesky problem. Sometimes I roll over a desktop shortcut the area behind it turn black. If I click and drag my mouse on the desktop the selected area turns black. Everytime I just reboot it but is there a fix?

Update the graphics card driver.

Blow dust out of the system with a can of compressed air, or remove any dust with some other safe method.

If neither helps, do you also get graphics errors in games? If then the card might be bad.
